ESS’s Client, continue to push the boundaries of the design, manufacture, build and test of gas analysers and gas emission monitoring systems. Their equipment is found in a range of industrial settings. Key markets include process control, continuous emissions monitoring (CEMs), defence and security.

They require a Planner / Buyer to be based out of their Cumbernauld office on a permanent basis. In light of current restrictions, you will be homeworking, once initial training has been provided, on site.

SUMMARY

As the Planner / Buyer you will be responsible for planning and scheduling of material deliveries in a timely manner to ensure the right parts are available at the right time for the production schedule. Using the Material Requisition Planning (MRP) Sage and Pull process management, this role manages material availability and determines root cause of issues in the supply chain. This role is responsible for buying and planning parts from domestic and international supply base. This role is required to work closely with Scheduling, Manufacturing, Engineering, Finance and Logistics to maximize service levels and minimizing risk.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Material Purchase Requisitions commensurate with various product Bill of Material requirements, current stock holding and consequential stock purchase requirements for both GC & QCL
- Develop Planning capabilities in line with the business requirements as we move onto JDE
- Material receiving, stocking and kitting of electronic, mechanical and optical assemblies and sub-assemblies as per the master production schedule to meet the business requirements for Cascades product delivery program.
- Maintain the Production Schedule, working closely with production Manager to establish any material and or resource issues.
- Inventory control.
- Close liaison with Goods in and Kitting functions to ensure clean kits are issued per the master production schedule requirements.
- Close liaison with Manufacturing and Purchasing functions to ensure expedient processing of Purchase Requests and Orders
- Escalate and expedite supplier issues
- Provide weekly materials availability status reports to Operations and Manufacturing Managers
- Create and send purchase orders to suppliers, ensuring that the transfer of information is timely and accurate, Current QCL have around 595 suppliers, of which 143 suppliers are for Bom Items.
- Ensure that requested delivery dates and suppliers’ deliveries meet materials requirement planning.
- Supports and builds relationships with suppliers
- Input all necessary information into procurement database to monitor suppliers and their quotes.
- Ensure all transactions are properly screen and recorded in accordance with the company’s Trade Compliance procedures and to escalate any concerns or questions
- Assist in the RFQ process including negotiating best prices from Suppliers for all types of purchases
- Distribute purchase orders for approval
- Work closely with Third party suppliers to ensure strategic supply is sustained
It is estimated that you will be working with up to 595 suppliers of which 143 will be direct. Our Client therefore requires someone with strong experience with particular emphasis on the “buying” element of this role.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Previous experience of Material Requirements Planning, Scheduling and Inventory Control in a manufacturing environment
- Ideally CIPS qualified.
- Experience of working in a matrix organisation.
- Proven ability to interface with peers, teams, suppliers and customers at all levels
- Previous experience using an ERP system, inventory management and planning
- Computer literate (Inc. MS Word, Excel)
- Experience of using Sage, Trax, Oracle and J D Edwards would be considered highly beneficial.
