The post holder will support the Deputy Director of Finance - Financial Planning, Performance and Improvement, in providing financial planning support, monitoring of performance and identification of areas for financial improvement. The post holder will assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of financial strategies, planning models, returns and reports, to create and maintain sustainable, affordable and high-quality services for our patients. A key demand of the role is performing analysis using a variety of data sources to solve complex problems and will require the post holder to be a creative problem solver. This is a non-clinical post.

1. To support the development and modelling of the Trust’s financial strategy and sustainable plan that align to the Trust’s strategic objectives.
2. Provide financial and statistical expertise to underpin business cases, productivity programmes and business planning decisions, in line with the Trust’s overall strategic objectives.
3. Provide expertise in developing and implementing a culture of performance, quality and financial improvement; working to embed the standards, behaviours and strategies needed to bring about sustainable improvements across all areas of the Trust.
4. Analyse and interpret highly complex financial and non-financial data, performance, risks and issues to support the identification of underlying business trends or themes that need to be addressed. This will require a high level of mental effort through the requirement for frequent, and sometimes prolonged concentration.
5. Support the identification, planning, delivery and reporting of productivity and efficiency opportunities.
6. Contribute specialist technical accounting and business knowledge, strong analytical skills, and effectively communicate highly complex finance issues to non-finance people.
7. To be accountable to the Deputy Director of Finance Financial Planning, Performance, and Improvement, for Trust’s adherence to statutory accounting requirements, DH and NHSI accounting standards and Trust policies for internal control, corporate governance, and reporting requirements.
