NHS Supply Chain are recruiting for an Internal Communications Lead who will be responsible for designing and delivering the Internal Communications strategy. The postholder will strategically lead, and be accountable for, the internal communications function, providing professional advice, expertise, and leadership on all aspects of internal communications to the Executive Team and senior leaders.

As an organisation, we’ve transitioned to being a part of the NHS, and have defined a bold 10-year vision that requires us, through communications, to position the organisation as a part of the NHS system, with an intent to bring excellence in our procurement and supply chain capabilities, for the benefit of patient care.

The role will support those ambitious plans and be responsible for informing, educating and engaging colleagues to support the delivery of the organisational priorities. The role will work closely with the Executive team, and leadership team of the business to establish the right continued engagement and input to maximise the impact of the function.

The role will also build relationships with communications teams within DHSC and NHSEI on key topics, as well as looking to leverage the communications channels of both organisations effectively. They will be responsible for engaging, effective and impactful internal communications, across the breadth of NHS Supply Chain, working with communications leads within partner organisations.

The role will need to evolve the use of technology to support communications activities, managing current channels and content, as well as looking to evolve how data sources and insights can be better leveraged to improve the impact of the function.

Strong and experienced leadership will be required and whilst this is a role within healthcare, experience and innovation from other industries is welcomed. Some healthcare experience would be beneficial, however is not essential.

**What does an Internal Communications Lead do at NHS Supply Chain?**

Develop, maintain and deliver an annual communications strategy, with clear KPIs, aligned to corporate priorities.

Responsible for working with the whole NHS Supply Chain operation to implement effective internal communications strategies.

Liaise with senior leaders, Supply Chain Executive Team and managers to determine the internal communication needs within the organisation and deliver solutions to drive performance to meet the needs of the organisation.

Advisor to key stakeholders to ensure that business/project updates are communicated effectively to inform, educate and engage employees.

Develop and implement an internal communication’s business partner model.

Develop, maintain and deliver a transformation communications strategy that educates, informs and engages colleagues.

Utilise data to help shape audience centric channels and content and show an ROI

Responsible for coordination of all aspects of colleague facing internal communications across the organisation. Develop, maintain, and improve channels to ensure the organisation is future focused in its approach.

Responsible for redeveloping and improving the intranet / SharePoint as a key internal communications tool, working alongside IT.

Ensure messages from senior management and the Board are properly reflected in communications to key stakeholders, some of these messages are likely to contain commercially sensitive information, such as organisational restructures.

Be the first point of contact for internal communication enquiries and requests for advice.

Proactively seek opportunities to advise on communications issues.

Be the key communication lead in any business continuity situation.

**What skills, qualifications and qualities do I need to be successful?**

Experience in designing and delivering an internal communications strategy in complex organisations and geographically dispersed workforce.

Experience of setting clear KPIs and showing a ROI

Experience of advising senior managers on complex internal communications challenges, including crisis communications

Experience of influencing at a senior level

Experience of successfully influencing staff at all levels within an organisation

Experience of successfully managing complex projects, involving multiple stakeholders, from start to finish.

Analytical skills to identify and evaluate internal communication needs and challenges.

Experience of working within a complex organisation with many key stakeholders IT skills especially Microsoft Word / Adobe / PowerPoint
