**Responsibilities**

To:
1. Assist teachers in the delivery of lessons, providing support to individual and small groups of pupils.

2. Assist in the delivery of individual work programmes for specific pupils.

3. Use routine supervision and care skills to support pupils, including those who have physical, emotional or educational needs.

4. Support the teachers in identifying the most effective teaching approaches and resources for pupils with specific needs.

5. Participate, with other staff, in the comprehensive assessment of children and young people to identify and address barriers to learning.

6. Help create and maintain an effective and stimulating environment for learning.

8. Liaise with parents and external agencies as required.

9. Work as part of a team to ensure that the well-being, behaviour and personal development of pupils enhances learning opportunities and life skills.

10. Contribute to the maintenance of records and information systems, both computerised and manual, with due regard for data protection and confidentiality.

11. Operate within legal, ethical and professional boundaries.

13. Provide administrative support to the class teachers and Senior Leadership Team.

14. Act as cover supervisor to cover absence as required.

15. Participate and accompany pupils off‐site on visits.

16. Undertake other duties that teachers or members of the Senior Leadership team may, from time to time, ask the post holder to perform.

**Job Purpose**

To assist in the promotion and development of inclusive learning and teaching throughout the school. Their main responsibility is to promote the wellbeing, safety and learning of the Students within Newbury Independent School whilst creating a safe environment to learn and develop. To support the school’s teachers in the teaching and learning of individual and key groups of pupils e.g. SEND, EHCP, IEPs, those on the Child Protection Register and Looked After Children. To support teaching staff with administration, including displays and reprographics.
