We are looking for a Dispenser to join our Service Delivery Team in Walton Summit, Preston. You will be joining a team of pharmacists, dispensers and healthcare assistants. You will also be interacting with our in-house prescribers and external prescribers.

You will primarily be doing two tasks:

- Processing clinic orders including picking items and dispensing prescription medicine using our PMR system.
- Reviewing orders for OTC medicines received on Pharmacy Prime and marketplaces such as Amazon & eBay to determine whether they can be approved for supply or rejected.

In addition to this, you will:

- Collect, record, and review information from patients.
- Verify the identity of patients.
- Provide advice and support to patients.
- Refer queries and discuss issues with the team and Responsible Pharmacist.
- Record near misses and support the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.

What we expect from you

You must be an experienced dispenser and be proficient using pharmacy PMR systems. You must be able to mitigate the most common risks associated with dispensing including picking errors.

You must be able to work at an efficient pace, ensuring that safety and quality standards are maintained. You must maintain a clean and orderly workbench, and support the upkeep of the pharmacy.

It’s crucial for you to have an up-to-date knowledge of OTC medications, in order to determine if medicines being ordered online are safe and effective. You must also be able to understand how medications are liable to misuse and abuse and be able to implement appropriate controls to safeguard against this.

You must be IT literate and comfortable doing most of your work on a PC using cloud-based tools. We do not expect you to know how to use all the systems we have in place, and we will support you to get up to speed with them.

You should enjoy learning and growing by completing further training and CPD courses.

Note: applicants for this position will be eligible to enrol on a company sponsored NVQ Level 3 for Pharmacy Technicians, we will support you to complete this further training by providing protected training time and a tutor. Once qualified your GPhC registration will be covered by the company.
