**Building Surveyor**
**Purpose and Objectives of the Job**:
The Building Surveyor will be responsible for assisting in various building surveying activities, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, managing resources, and delivering high-quality services. Reporting to the Lead & Senior Building Surveyor, the role encompasses project-related tasks and designated responsibilities within Property Services.
**Control of Resources**:
The Building Surveyor will oversee the utilization of all equipment and materials relevant to the role.
**Personnel**:
None directly under supervision, but collaboration with colleagues within Property Services is essential.
**Financial**:
Project-related financial management as directed by the Lead & Senior Building Surveyor, including budget monitoring and adherence to cost forecasts.
**Health/Safety/Welfare**:
Responsibility for personal and colleagues' safety and welfare, ensuring compliance with Health and Safety Policies.
**Equality and Diversity**:
Adherence to the Authority's Policy promoting Equality and Diversity.
**Training and Development**:
Assisting in identifying and undertaking training and development activities aligned with the Council's Performance Management Framework.
**Relationships (Internal and External)**:
Internal collaboration with Lead/Senior Building Surveyors and other officers. External interactions with service users and stakeholders.
**Responsibilities**:
- Conduct various building surveys, including condition, dilapidation, and whole life cycle costing.
- Manage post-survey construction works from tender production to completion.
- Provide technical advice, project procurement support, and excellent customer care.
- Organize and manage project execution ensuring high standards and value for money.
- Maintain equipment inventory and contribute to Property Services' objectives.

**Principal Building Surveying Duties**:
- Provide planned and reactive contract works services efficiently.
- Offer technical advice and adjust contract specifications as needed.
- Supervise contracts, monitor progress, and maintain quality and cost control standards.
- Assist in developing work programs and performance indicators.
- Ensure safe working methods, complete risk assessments, and maintain records.
- Liaise with administrative staff and produce professional reports.
**Secondary Duties**:
- Participate in training programs and other duties as assigned.
- Contribute to the vision, values, and objectives of Property Services and the Council.
**Person Specification**:
- Knowledge of current Building Regulations and different types of building surveys.
- Experience in planned/reactive maintenance works contracts, budget monitoring, and project management.
- Proficiency in CAD drawing, estimating, and risk assessment.
- Willingness to adhere to organizational values and behaviors.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 10 months
Pay: £19.81 per hour
