**Job Summary**

We are seeking an apprentice stonemason to join our friendly team working on varied building and landscaping projects across Cumbria. You must be capable of producing a consistently high standard of work, with attention to detail and a right first-time approach. A cooperative attitude to teamwork is essential. This is an excellent opportunity to learn a skilled trade within a growing construction business. The right individual will have the opportunity to develop their skills and progress within the business.

**Duties**

Under the instruction of experienced stonemasons, you will become proficient in the following duties (not exhaustive):

- Construction and repair of stone structures e.g. walls, floors, monuments.
- Setting out using measuring and marking tools.
- Dressing stones using hand tools and power tools.
- The mixing and use of appropriate mortars.
- Stone fixing.
- Repairing and replacing damaged stones in existing structures.
- Reading drawings.
- Working in compliance with health and safety requirements.

You will attend college on a block placement basis and achieve your Level 2 Stonemasonry qualification by the end of a 2-year apprenticeship.

**Requirements and Skills**

You will need to:

- Meet the apprenticeship entry criteria of a minimum of 3 GSCEs at grade 4 or above (or equivalent) including Maths and English. Alternatively, if you have a minimum of a grade 3 in Maths and English you can take a functional skills component during year 1 of the apprenticeship, which must be passed to progress to year 2.
- Have an aptitude for skilled practical work.
- Be punctual, reliable and professional in your approach to work.
- Have, or quickly develop, a genuine interest in the trade.
- Diligently follow instructions.
- Be capable of consistently delivering precise workmanship.
- Be physically fit to carry out manual work throughout the day.
- Be comfortable with working at height and outdoors.
- Follow health and safety procedures and practices.

Pay: £7.00-£10.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 - 40 per week
