**Providing worthwhile activities for Adults with Learning Disabilities - and essential respite for carers.**

In Kensington and Chelsea, we put local people at the heart of decision-making, working in partnership with them to provide quality services that are responsive, effective, and efficient. This includes meeting the specific needs of Adults with a Learning Disability. The borough’s dedicated day service offers support, therapies, and activities for Adults with a Learning Disability with complex needs. We support service users to use community facilities as much as possible, support their communication and health needs and support them with any behaviours that may be challenging.

**The Role**:
You’ll join a supportive team that provides a wide range of person-centred care. This is a busy, active work environment where you will help to develop and deliver an activity programme, as well as providing personal care and assistance with eating and drinking. You may be acting as a key worker for several service users, you’ll work closely with families and carers to plan individual and group activities and monitor and review the services they receive. You will be supporting service users in the centre as well as the community and ensuring service users have opportunities to use community facilities and be able to support them in the right way to do this. You will also be working with service users who at times have behaviours that challenge the service e.g., self-abuse, communication needs.

**About You**:
Although we provide specialist training in working with service users with a learning disability, some experience in social care in a paid work setting for adults with a learning disability is essential, A good understanding of person-centred approaches is important. Quick to build rapport with others, you’re able to deal calmly and sensitively with a wide range of people and situations, some of which can be challenging. Well-organised with basic IT skills, you’re equipped to help with record-keeping, report writing and formatting risk assessments. Teamwork is the key to our success so you must be ready to work in cooperation with others.
