My client is seeking to expand their current team with a Graduate Metallurgists.

The role is to develop and provide a metallurgical facility (metallography) within the test house to support production testing requirements, failure analysis and process improvements

To provide Process Control and Technical Support to Heavy and Die Plant Forges to ensure adherence to internal controls (SOPs etc.) and to meet requirements of both customer and third party (BSI, Lloyds etc.) specifications for all forging/heat treatment operations.

Also to create an environment for continuous improvement.

**MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Principal**
- To develop and run a metallographic facility to support production/customer testing, failure analysis and process improvements
- To do Technical reviews for new orders in timely manner
- Material Process Guides - create and improve as more knowledge is acquired
- Provide technical support to Forge Manager/Supervision in material selection
- Assist in investigation of quality/non-conformance issues

**Secondary**
- Provide Process Control and technical advice to ensure metallurgical control to specifications of all forging operations.
- Police forging operations to ensure all equipment standards and Methods of Manufacture (MOM) are adhered to.
- Set and maintain standards and working practices which affect product quality for forges
- Manage all forge related SOPs to ensure updated and maintained to latest manufacturing practices and customer/third party specifications.
- Provide Technical Training support to Forge manager/supervision and shop floor personnel
- Provide technical support to Forge Manager/Supervision in creation of MOMs
- Provide technical support to Forge Manager/Supervision in post forge process requirements
- Material Process Guides - create and improve as more knowledge is acquired
- Cover for Lead Quality Engineer during absence periods.
- Process Optimisation Data - provide ongoing Data for management/team review to support continuous improvement and energy saving activities.
- Support Quality Assurance Manager in setting and achieving Company Technical/Quality Objectives
- Support Quality Dept during customer and third party audits (BSI, Lloyds, BAE etc.).
- Create an environment for continuous improvement to prevail
- Work and adhere to HSE and Environment guidelines on site
- Maintain department housekeeping and infrastructure
- To perform such duties as generally correspond to the nature of the position and its level of responsibility as requested by Technical Lead.

**ADDITIONAL INFORMATION**:

- A Metallurgical/Technical Qualification or experienced background is preferred.
- Flexibility in working hours may be required at times to cover working patterns

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £25,000.00-£28,000.00 per year
