University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust (UHSussex) seeks to appoint a Consultant in Restorative Dentistry. This new role has been developed to meet the restorative dentistry needs of patients in three core services: Head and Neck Cancer, Oral and Maxillofacial Trauma and Head and Neck Developmental Anomalies. The appointee will join, and be supported by, established multi-disciplinary teams and lead the Trust Restorative Dentistry service. This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy, dynamic and expanding department in one of the largest Foundation Trusts in the NHS. The job is based in Brighton and Worthing

**The duties of the post include the following**:

- The delivery of clinical excellence in Restorative Dentistry.
- The delivery of excellence in collaborative working with colleagues from within and out with the Trust.
- Provide clinical expertise in Restorative Dentistry, supporting and supervising members of the multidisciplinary teams.
- Provide a specialty service to the Trust with responsibility for the diagnosis and management of patients referred to the Restorative Dentistry service.
- Ensure that patients are provided with the highest possible standard of diagnosis, treatment and care in the most effective and timely way.
- To lead on development plans and delivery of key performance indicators for Restorative Dentistry.
- To supervise, train and manage junior medical and dental staff working at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Trust to ensure high standards of clinical practice and efficient use of resources.
- To maintain effective communication and working relationships with medical, scientific, management, technical and nursing staff, as required for performing the responsibilities of this post. This includes electronic communication within the department, the Trust, and with national and international colleagues.
- To lead by example and set and maintain high professional standards.

This new role has been developed to meet the restorative dentistry needs of patients in three core services: head and neck cancer, maxillofacial trauma and head and neck developmental anomalies. The post-holder will join established multi-disciplinary teams and lead the University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust Restorative Dentistry service. This is a part-time, substantive, post working three days per week with 7.20 programmed activities.
