Small and Micro satellites are being used more and more in everyday life, with the manufacturing rate increasing year by year. They assist us by tracking forest fires, providing communications to remote places and capturing high-definition images of the Earth, to name a few. There is currently a lack of launch opportunities for smallsats, and it is Skyrora’s goal to open this access to space, to unlock the potential for all.

We design and build our launch vehicles in house and aim to launch from the UK with our Skyrora XL, a 3-stage liquid launch vehicle. We have built the UK’s largest test engine facility, this groundbreaking testing infrastructure will aid the testing of engines on our orbital Skyrora XL launch vehicle, allowing Skyrora to both become the first British company to launch from British soil and deliver sovereign UK launch capability at scale in the long term. In our engine development, we performed over 120 liquid engine tests in 2020 alone. Globally, we have recently secured over £3M in ESA funding, to accelerate our development activities.

**About the Role**

As Skyrora push forward on our journey to orbit, we are rapidly expanding our teams to maintain our current pace of development. Skyrora requires a Facilities & Maintenance Operative to provide support to the continuation and development of Skyrora facilities.

**Key Responsibilities and Tasks**

**Facilities**
- Undertaking planned, responsive, and cyclical maintenance work as required.
- Basic electrical tasks to include cleaning light fittings and to test lighting systems as required, replacing where necessary minor parts such as tubes, bulbs, fuses starters and diffusers, in accordance with safe working practices.
- To assist in the clearing of blockages, remove foreign matter from sinks, toilets, drains, kitchen grease traps etc. and clean up spillages as required
- To perform wide range of commercial building inspections conversant with fire, legionella and mandatory building H&S requirements.
- Calibration, maintenance and basic servicing of equipment, undertaking planned, responsive and cyclical maintenance work as required.
- PAT Testing of all electrical equipment.
- Manual handling, lifting & carrying. The role will include a degree of manual handling so applicants should be physically fit in order to exert moderate physical effort. Occasionally required/engaged in lifting, pushing and pulling of heavy items over 25 kg in weight.
- Delivery and collection of items using company van.
- Requirement to work with skilled trades and perform other routine and non-routine work.
- Operate at all times with due regard to Health and Safety Regulations, COSHH, Waste Disposal etc.
- General Porter Duties
- Clearing common areas, meeting room set-ups
- Office Moves
- Assembling furniture and other equipment
- Providing assistance in technical cleaning duties

**Vehicle Transport**
- Scheduled and ad-hoc collection of materials from suppliers, customers or other Skyrora or operational sites
- Assisting in ADR movements where required
- Collection of vehicles

**Essential Experience & Skills**
- 1+ Experience in a in maintenance or factory operative role
- Good working knowledge of general property maintenance
- Good working knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Excel & Word)
- Full Clean UK Driver’s License

**Desirable Experience & Skills**
- Fork Lift Licence (2Tonne Counter balance) beneficial but not essential
- ADR Driving qualification

**Additional Requirements**
- Valid passport, including right to work in the UK
- Successfully clear
