Infant Feeding Support Worker

We are looking for an infant feeding support worker to provide education and support to mothers in both the antenatal and postnatal episodes of care, within the hospital environment as well as in the home setting.

Breastfeeding is an important public health issue because it promotes health, prevents disease and helps contribute to reducing health inequalities

If successful, you will be an integral part of our team and an important part of the infant and their family’s development.

If successful, you will work as an integral part of a team delivering high quality; family orientated Infant feeding services to the population served by ABSS. The post holder will work with the UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative standards, delivering meaningful ante and post-natal conversations and support with infant feeding.

Good communication skills are essential; it should be supported by information tailored to the needs of the individual woman. Every opportunity should be taken to provide the woman, her partner and her family with the information and support they need. The post holder will comply with the Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust infant Feeding Policy.

This involves working two 8-hour day shifts and would involve working both within the maternity unit and in the community setting.

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is now one of the largest in the country, with a workforce of approximately 15,000 who serve a population of 1.2 million people.
