**Summary of Job Purpose**:
To ensure through the provision of education and training that all staff have the necessary skills and are competent to deliver high standards of care.

To co-ordinate all training in the Home in order to meet its goal of achieving ‘Outstanding’ in CQC inspections.

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Ensure that all staff are inducted effectively using the Aged Care Channel Library (ACC)
- Ensure that new staff to care have completed the Care Certificate
- Ensure that the Home has identified mentors to supervise the implementation of theory into practice in care
- In partnership with the Home Manager, ensure there is a training programme in place to reflect training needs identified at supervision/appraisal meetings
- In collaboration with the Leisure and Wellness Co-ordinator (L&W), ensure the L&W Training Programme is part of the induction programme for all staff
- Monitor with the mentors that Company Standards are being met in the delivery of care
- Maintain a training matrix to ensure all training categories are at a level of 90% or above
- Ensure there is a system in place which evidences individual staff training
- In conjunction with the Home Manager, ensure that the Home’s Training Budget is managed effectively
- Ensure there are training opportunities for staff to expand their role and become ‘Champions’ in their chosen field.
- Keep up-to-date with internal and external learning and development opportunities
- Regularly meet with the Regional Trainer to support the implementation of the Care Certificate
- Ensure there is a system in place to manage the use of the ACC library
- Co-ordinate all Home based training and complete the Monthly Training Report

**Customer Care**
- Greet all visitors, and answer the telephone, in a friendly, courteous and efficient manner and promote Porthaven Care Homes and your own Home in particular, positively at all times in the local community
- Show courtesy and respect to Residents at all times to ensure that they enjoy the highest quality of life, respect the confidentiality of Residents and their families, friends at all times and involve families and friends in the Resident’s care as appropriate
- Communicate effectively with Residents, their relatives, friends, other staff and external visitors to the Home and deal sensitively with their concerns
- Protect all Residents from abuse and report any concerns as per Company policies and Procedures
- Keep professional knowledge and job skills up-to-date to ensure that our Residents receive the best possible standards of care and service

**Health and Safety**
- Carry out all duties in a safe manner having regard to Health and Safety and welfare of self, staff Resident’s and other persons within Porthaven Care Homes
- Ensure that you have read and understood, and at all times comply with, all relevant company policies and procedures and all relevant statutory responsibilities including fire arrangements, Health and Safety issues including moving and handling, COSHH regulations, maintaining records diligently and accurately as required.

**Generic Core Duties**
- Positively promote the Home through personal conduct both within and outside working hours
- Attend and participate in all training sessions and staff meetings as required
- Maintain good working relationships with all colleagues at all times
- Any other reasonable instruction from the Home Manager, which is within your area of competence.

**Salary**: £12.70-£12.80 per hour
