Commodities Operations Analyst

The purpose of the Commodities Operations Analyst is to be part of the team responsible for the trade lifecycle management of all trades concluded by our Front Office. This includes confirmations, margin & collateral management, invoicing and settlements.You will work closely with all major departments including the Trading Desks, Treasury, Credit and Compliance.

The financial services client is a global energy and technology company, operating at the intersection of renewable and conventional power. They trade energy in global markets, and provide a best-in-class service to manage the inherent intermittency of renewablepower generation across the short, medium and long term. As an energy trader, they buy and sell electricity and gas which is physically delivered on the grids, and we leverage our physical market knowledge to trade financial commodities.
**Description**
The main duties carried out by the Commodities Operations Analyst are:
- Monitor the Back Office mailbox and own the distribution of tasks accordingly, escalating issues to senior colleagues where appropriate.
- Respond to Back Office related queries from internal and external counterparties in a timely fashion.
- Ensure all OTC and intercompany settlements are completed in a timely manner.
- Assist in the onboarding of new counterparties by ensuring all static data is correct in our trading system.
- Produce monthly KPIs for management to show for the tasks performed by the Back Office team.
- Own the end of day cashflow report to ensure all settlements for the day have been reconciled and processed.
- Reconcile and settle monthly renewable PPA (Power purchase Agreement) contracts.
- Perform and understand the daily global margin calls.
- Work closely with the London-based Product Control team, ensuring all invoicing and cash reconciliation are completed in a timely manner prior to month end,
- Assist the Head of MOBO with process improvements around automation.
**Profile**
The pre-requisites for the Commodities Operations Analyst are:
- Demonstrable experience in financial or energy markets, with strong working knowledge of the trade lifecycle from a Back Office function.
- Excel skills at intermediate level or higher, including competence working with large data sets.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage in effective, direct communication across different levels of seniority with colleagues globally (for example, trading desks and senior management).
- A self-starter attitude and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Analytical and highly numerate, with strong attention to detail.
- A team player approach and willingness to support the wider team where needed.
