WPH Counselling and Education Service is a registered charity providing a BACP-Accredited counselling service to the people of Walsall. Although the charity is small, we have big ambitions to improve the mental health of people living across the borough.
WPH provides free, caring, confidential counselling to individuals from an attractive base in Walsall and outposts across the borough, including schools & external venues. We collaborate with clients from all walks of life and backgrounds, including both adults and children, and our team treat all our clients with kindness, compassion and respect.
**Job description**
For this role we are offering a salary of up to £28,500 (FTE - pro rata to contract hours) dependent on skills and experience.
WPH Counselling are looking to recruit a professional, enthusiastic, and experienced contracts and funding officer to join our existing administrative team. As a new role for the organisation to cover duties during Maternity Leave, we are looking for a dynamic and competent individual, who can think on their feet, has excellent attention to detail and is a driven self-starter with a passion for making a difference. The successful applicant will have the ability to lead on the identification of funding opportunities, liaise with clients, professionals and commissioners as required, as well as provide support to our administration team and Senior Management team as required.
You will work closely with the senior management team to implement and deliver an effective fundraising strategy, diversifying WPH’s income streams and identifying project opportunities for the future. You will also represent the charity externally with commissioners, project funders, and other community partners, maintaining and developing positive working relationships, as well as leading on impact and evaluation, collating and presenting all requirements in relation to contract, grant, and project funding.
**Role Overview**:
- Develop and Lead on WPH’s Fundraising and Income Strategy
- Funding Identification & Research
- Bid Writing/Grant Applications and Management
- Collation, preparation and presentation of statistical information and monitoring reports as required.
- Liaise with colleagues to ensure the effective delivery of all project requirements.
- Customer/Commissioner Relationship Management, Stakeholder Engagement and Communications.
- To work as part of a team with Counsellors and other staff.
- To assist the administration team with tasks relating to organisational administration as required. This includes but is not limited to helping circulate documentation to trustees, staff, volunteers, external organisations, and stake holders etc.
- Regular use of Microsoft office systems and associated devices, including any specialist technology in relation to the specific role.
**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
**Fundraising and Income Strategy**
- To develop and maintain WPH’s Fundraising and Income Generation Strategy, ensuring the diversification of income streams and financial sustainability, in line with WPH’s charitable mission and ethos, and alongside the organisation’s senior management team and trustee board.
- Actively research and identify potential funding opportunities, including opportunities from grant and project funders, public sector commissioners and individual donor etc. Analyse and prioritise prospective opportunities to ensure they align with WPH’s funding needs and goals.
- Support the wider team to secure unrestricted income through donations, small grants, events etc.
- Identify long-term funding opportunities for the organisation, with both existing funders and new funders.
- Work closely with colleagues to develop plans and budgets for delivering funding proposals.
- Work towards agreed targets and KPI’s in line with funding and contract requirements.
- Remain up to date with statutory contract requirements and share information with relevant colleagues as and when opportunities arise.
**Bid Writing/Grant Applications**
- Lead the tendering process ensuring all copy is submitted to a high standard, highlighting the outcomes and professionalism of the service.
- Liaise with colleagues to collate and compile all the necessary information required for completing successful and robust funding bids, including external research, case studies, previous organisational history and experience and demonstrable clients’ outcomes.
- Ensure all bids and contracts are costed appropriately, ensuring financial sustainability for the organisation, as well as value for money for the funder.
**Impact, Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting.**
- Collate and present monitoring and reporting information relevant to project KPI’s, ensuring they meet the requirements of funders/commissioners, and are submitted on time and presently clearly.
