**1. Role**

**purpose**

The primary purpose of this post is to participate in conducting internal and external

examinations. To include, where appropriate, ensuring that all Exam Board regulatory

requirements for the conduct of examinations are strictly adhered to.

**Responsibilities**

**a) Departmental**

1. With the school line manager participate in the formulation of detailed team

objectives and policies.

2. With the school line manager ensure the effective and efficient implementation

of school policies and the achievement of the school’s objectives, including

financial ones.

3. To contribute to co-operative working across services in accordance with the

school’s Vision and Values. To contribute to cross-service initiatives as required.

4. To assist in ensuring the team’s services are responsive to community needs and

that equal opportunity and health and safety issues are identified and

addressed effectively.

5. To assist in ensuring effective external and internal working relationships are

established and maintained with organisations and agencies relevant to the

work of the exams team.

6. To ensure effective and accessible communication with staff, service users, the

general public and others as appropriate.

arrangements for any examination session that you participate in.

9 To complete the Attendance Register during the examination, in accordance

10 To know the actions to be taken in the event of an emergency such as a fire

alarm.

12 After collation, to ensure the scripts are handed to the person responsible for

dispatching the scripts to Examiners.

13 To collect all unused stationery in the examination room and return it to the

Examinations Officer.

14 To ensure that the room is left in a tidy condition.

15 To assist in the completion of risk assessments as appropriate, to include the

reporting of any hazardous or potentially hazardous situations.

16 The postholder will carry out any other duties that might be considered to be

commensurate with the post, as required.

17 Self evaluation of all the above will be carried out as a continual process.

**Qualifications**

**Knowledge &**

**Experience**

**Essential**

5 GCSE’s at Grade C or above or equivalent including proficiency in literacy and

numeracy.

**Desirable**

A knowledge of the ‘Instructions for the conduct of examinations’ produced annually

by Joint Council for Qualifications.

Previous experience of invigilating examinations in a school environment.
