**Senior Carer**

**This role involves the responsibility for all students care who attend Dramatize Care. The role is about ensuring that high standards are maintained in the contexts of staff training, staffing, health and welfare of students and policies and procedures. An important element is the requirement to train, supervise, mentor and support the team through role modelling, policies and procedures and ensuring the ethos of Dramatize is carried through to all care workers. You will be required to develop, monitor and evaluate the implementation of our physical training on our students and the students care. As well as oversee the day to day running of our day care.**

The Senior Carer is responsible for developing the skills and knowledge of Dramatize’s workforce.

You will need a deep knowledge of Dramatizes students to be able to articulate the correct care and training required for each individual student; taking responsibility for the students and the day to day running of Dramatize Care.

You will need an ingrained knowledge of Dramatize to be able to articulate Dramatizes ethos, aims and objectives.

The role involves ensuring that Dramatize is equipped with a workforce that can optimize its current and future goals and objectives and delivers a quality service to our students.

Through the process of developing the employees’ skills and helping all employees to reach their potential, the Senior Carer will help to build employee satisfaction, which makes it easier for Dramatize to attract and retain a quality workforce.

The Senior Carer will assist other employees in the process of developing their performance in Dramatize and taking part in organisational change programs.

The Senior Carer is responsible for conducting thorough training needs analysis before undertaking a training assignment, to determine what needs to be learned by the employees or team, and how to prioritise the learning.

Some of the required skills or characteristics include excellent coaching skills, creativity, outstanding oral and written communication skills, and excellent presentation skills, computer literacy, innovative thinking, and good analytical and planning skills.

Some of the major tasks contained in the Senior Carer work description include developing new skills in employees, managing the learning function, maximizing employee retention, and assessing or measuring the results of training programs.

**Senior Carer Job Description**
- You are required to oversee and monitor care workers, ensuring the team are carrying out their roles professionally, accurately and providing high quality care to our students.
- You are required to promote the equality, diversity, rights and responsibilities of students at all times in accordance with Dramatize policies and procedures.
- You are expected to respond to emergencies and provide guidance and support to care workers.
- You are expected to ensure our students are stimulated and engaged throughout the day.
- You are required to liaise with the management team and care workers in updating care plans, behaviour plans, and epilepsy plans as required.
- You are required to evaluate the risk of and to protect students from threats to their health, welfare and development both from inside and outside Dramatize. This will involve promoting students’ awareness of personal safety as well as being able to identify abuse and respond to disclosure from a student.
- You will ensure that good quality safe working relationships are built and maintained between students, staff, professionals and families at all levels and withdrawal from these working relationships are done appropriately.
- You will ensure that any incidents that occur within a Dramatize provision is actioned in accordance with our policies and procedures, with correct and accurate records being taken and recorded and action taken to ensure this incident does not happen again. This information must be shared with the Directors of Dramatize immediately.
- You will ensure records are up-to-date with an accurate record of trainee progress and achievements.
- You will set good examples by demonstrating the skills that are being taught
- To critically examine the care assistants understanding and progress and making necessary adjustments to the program.
- To schedule training sessions to minimize disruption to normal working.
- To provide training to new employees and ongoing mentoring to all care assistants.
- You will identify training needs by evaluating strengths and weaknesses.
- To assess training effectiveness to ensure incorporation of taught skills and techniques into employees work behaviour.
- To carry out the training curriculum that abides by Dramatizes ethos and objectives and is engaging and allows trainees the maximum opportunity to participate.
