Job Details

Our client is a leading global Syndicate with financial backing from a huge Insurer. As the lead of their data governance team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing data governance strategies and frameworks to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and security of data across the group.

You will also be responsible for selecting and deploying a Data Catalogue tooling to support Data Governance Framework. Collaboration with various stakeholders is essential to establish data governance policies, standards, and procedures, and oversee implementation to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and business rules. This role requires a deep understanding of data management practices, industry regulations, and emerging trends in data governance.
- What we are looking for:_
- Develop and execute the data governance framework for the company, aligning it with the overall business objectives and goals of the organisation.
- Work with a small team of data professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and fostering a culture of data stewardship and accountability.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders, including senior management, IT, legal, compliance, and risk management teams, to define data governance policies, standards, and procedures.
- Establish and enforce data governance frameworks, including data classification, data quality, data lineage, data privacy, and data retention policies.
- Oversee the implementation and adherence to data governance practices, ensuring data integrity, interoperability, accuracy, and consistency across all systems and processes.
- Develop and maintain a data catalogue, documenting data assets, data flows, and data usage within the group.
- Key Skills & Experience:_
- Proven experience (5+ years) in data governance, data quality, or data management, or a related field, preferably in the insurance industry.
- Strong understanding of data governance principles, data management practices, and regulatory requirements in the insurance industry, such as GDPR, Solvency II, and IFRA 17.
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks and standards, such as DAMA-DMBOK or ISO 8000.
- Knowledge of data privacy and data protection laws and regulations, and experience implementing data privacy policies and procedures - desirable
- Strong communication and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team of data governance professionals.
- Qualifications_
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as computer science, information management, or a related business discipline. Certifications e.g., Certified Data Management Professional is desirable
