Test Lead - Market Wide Half Hourly Settlement - Fixed Term Contract - 2 Years

We are looking for an enthusiastic Test Lead with meticulous attention to detail to help us deliver amazing software in support of the UK electricity market settlement reform programme, ‘Market Wide Half Hourly Settlement’ (MHHS). MHHS is designed as an enabler of the move to a smarter, more flexible energy system.

We are a flat and agile organisation and plan to remain this way. We are looking for a hands-on Test Lead that can help build, test and assure our tech capability across our business as we continue to grow, in a tightly regulated industry. It is important that we understand our customers’ problems and adopt solutions that really add value.

You'll need a strong understanding of the electricity market and industry processes and procedures and how technology can be leveraged to enable E.ON Next to deliver to the obligations and requirements set out by the MHHS industry programme. You will need to work in partnership with the technology, business, regulatory operational teams as well as engage with third party vendors and wider industry partners.

In this role, the Test Lead will play a key role in the refinement, setup, test, assurance and launch of E.ON Next’s MHHS capability involving complexity across a range of journeys where MHHS will necessitate change including switching, registrations, billing, settlement and metering, including smart metering.

A taste of what you’ll be doing.- Translating the test requirements and activities from the MHHS industry programme for the Supplier role of E.ON Next and those that we need to place reliance - and assure - via our software partner(s)- Managing a dedicated team of test analysts focussed on MHHS delivery to E.ON Next standards and compliance and regulatory obligations- Plan, manage and execute the industry rounds of testing to meet the MHHS Design for E.ON Next and in preparation for Go Live, using agreed and defined entry/exit criteria and scope-
- Establishing & managing our own processes (Defect and CR management), test environments, data, test management/tools, labs and simulators- Ensuring E.ON Next meet the MHHS industry programme test readiness and exit criteria including the capture of test evidence, artefacts production and management- Collaborating closely with the product managers, business owners, tech teams and Kraken leads as we create, refine and deliver our product pipeline for MHHS- Engagement with the MHHS industry programme and supplier peers to shape and influence both intent and delivery outcomes- Support in identification of risks and issues through the delivery life cycle; design, build and test- Test, assure and support the launch of new technology, including 3rd party software- Keep relevant stakeholders updated and build a strong network across our business and third parties.

Are you the person for the job?- 4+ years of experience as a Test Lead / QA engineer- Experience with test tools and systems- Experience of managing a test team, prioritising and allocating duties- Knowledge of Market Wide Half Hourly Settlement (desirable)- Experience working with 3rd parties and electricity industry bodies- Experience of working with significant complex delivery pipelines and/or across regulatory programmes- Adaptable and comfortable with working with ambiguity- Self-starting, self-organising and able to adapt to multiple roles within the product lifecycle- Enthusiastic, dependable and responsible- Strong relationship building and stakeholder management capabilities- Strong presentation skills and experience of influencing at a senior level
