Energy Consultant

**THE POSITION**
**MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Maintain and develop existing and new energy supplier customers through appropriate propositions, to optimise quality of service, business growth, and customer satisfaction.

- Read all the daily market reports we receive from a variety of sources and cross reference this with a sense check of Reuters live information.
- Write-up a log of the week's key energy events and drivers in the weekly market report.
- Post or share relevant technical articles to the company FaceBook, Twitter and Linked-In accounts as appropriate
- Check all triggers and marked to market reports for risk clients and flag any recommended or urgent action to the head of the risk desk
- Undertake trading activities as mandated by the head of the risk desk
- Communicate, liaise, and negotiate with suppliers using appropriate methods to facilitate the development of profitable business and sustainable relationships.
- Maintain a database of pass through charges such that MUGC is able to build a bottom up cost stack for electricity (and gas) prices
- Create the specifications for the IT development of various energy related products developed for and sold to the various energy supplier businesses MUGC has as clients
- Attend and present at external client meetings and internal meetings with other company functions necessary to perform duties and aid business development.
- Attend training where appropriate to develop relevant knowledge, techniques and skills.
- Adhere to health and safety policy, and other company requirements relating to care of equipment.
- Support the business with corporate end user customer account management as requested

**SKILLS AND ABILITIES**
The post holder must be able to demonstrate the following skills:
Essential
- Organisational thoroughness with an attention to detail
- Good time management with an ability to work to and meet challenging deadlines.
- Good communication skills both verbal and written
- Confident and competent Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills
- An ability to analyse, and provide an opinion on, energy markets
- A demonstrable ability to continue learning and to teach others.
- Able to promote excellent working partnerships with internal colleagues
- To be innovative and able to work on own initiative - a high degree of self-management is required to effectively perform this role.

**EXPERIENCE**
Essential
- At least 2 - 5 years of demonstrable experience in the energy industry where an understanding of the energy markets formed part of that experience.
- Experience of building useful contacts within the energy suppliers and an ability to continue to do so.
- Experience at building and then presenting solutions and propositions to both internal and external clients

Desirable
- Some experience of flexible contracting and risk management
- Some experience of red-lining legal contracts

**EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS**
Essential
- Educated to at least A level standard.
- Educated to a higher level by formal qualification and / or career experience.

Desirable
- Educated to degree level
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development and a willingness to undertake further training if required

**OTHER**

- The flexibility to attend evening meetings and work “outside normal office hours” as and when required
