Laundry Assistant

**Job description - Housekeeping services - Linens**

Purpose: To ensure all laundry is appropriate washed, dried and ironed as necessary. To ensure the laundry runs efficiently and hygienically

**Care**:
1. To ensure the principles of privacy and dignity are promoted though effective working as part of the team.

2. To ensure all laundry is appropriate washed, dried and ironed as necessary.

4. To ensure the correct use of the coloured laundry bags

5. To be aware of cross infection

6. To use the appropriate linen baskets/trolleys for soiled and clean laundry

7. Place clean personal items for service users in the appropriate individual boxes

8. To distribute laundered items to individual rooms, and where appropriate other areas within the home

9. To assist with maintaining clothing in individual bedrooms, including general tidying and management of clothes storage - where possible including the service users if they wish

10. To inform the Housekeeper when washing supplies are running low

11. To keep the Housekeeper informed about general order of linens in the home

12. To adhere to the washing/drying instructions and report any faults to the Facilities Manager or to person in charge

13. Ensure that all personal items are correctly marked

14. To keep the laundry area clean and tidy

15. To sweep the floor and empty the bin at the end of your shift

16. To encourage and facilitate service users to participate in leisure pursuits and maintain interests to assist in ensuring their social and emotional needs are met

17. To report and record the well-being of service users

18. To attend meetings as required by the home manager

19. To ensure that furniture and equipment used within the home is clean and used safely, reporting any faulty, equipment or appliances promptly.

20. To promptly reports complaints, concerns or safeguarding issues to the senior officer in charge, and to provide a contemporaneous record of any such event

21. To undertake cleaning duties as required including replenishing stocks of disposable items and exercising effective measures to exercise cost control at all times

22. To assist in the cleaning and maintenance of communal areas of the home, and ensuring a safe environment is maintained

**Communication**:
23. To promote the good reputation of the service and Abbey Healthcare. Ensuring that good relationships are developed and maintained with service users, their relatives and friends, and all external professionals and outside agencies

24. To promote and maintain good working relationships with all staff within the home, and to work to support conflict resolution, supporting a work’s atmosphere which promotes a high quality experience for service users

25. To be courteous and polite at all times, and to present a professional image, adopting a neat, tidy and clean appearance at all times and wear the appropriate uniform provided by the company as required

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent

**Salary**: From £9.90 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Overtime
- Weekend availability
