The role is a permanent position, based within the Bensham site, although Gateshead Health is developing an Agile Working model for the future. This post will line manager a Band 5, ESR specialist position.

**In summary the post holder will**:

- Be our technical specialist and expert in relation to ESR.
- Provide a high quality, reliable and consistent ESR based information service for the Trust, its Managers and the Board.
- Be responsible for data quality to ensure the accuracy of our people data.
- Access Business Intelligence (BI) reporting functionality within ESR to regularly design, produce and present specialist bespoke workforce information reports and other statistical information as required, to support managers in decision-making processes and the achievement of Trust objectives.
- Be proactive and initiate reports that will assist managers in their roles.
- Respond to national requests for workforce information in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring data integrity.
- Provide day to day management of the ESR Technical Specialist, including appraisals, staff development, absence management, etc.
- Prepare documentation and training guides associated with system upgrades.
- When required attend Regional/National meetings/user groups to share knowledge/experiences of other Trusts and identify areas of improvement/development.
- Support the People Data and Information Lead when necessary including with the wider team function (e.g. ESR, RA etc.) and deputise when necessary.

Based in the North East of England we provide a range of hospital and community health services from our leading facilities including the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Blaydon urgent care centre and Bensham Hospital, all within Gateshead. Established in 2005, we were one of the first foundation trusts in the country and since then have consistently achieved the highest levels of care for patients. As a group we employ around 4,200 staff and currently provide 600 hospital beds across Gateshead. Our primary focus is on providing excellent general health services to our local community complemented by key specialist areas including Gynaecology, maternity, palliative care and old age psychiatry. Alongside a full range of local hospital services, we provide breast screening services for Gateshead, South Tyneside, Sunderland and parts of Durham - and we are the North Eastern hub for the National Bowel Cancer and AAA Screening Programmes, covering a population of around seven million people.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES & KEY RESULTS AREAS

Data Management

Using expert knowledge of the system and workforce data, the post holder will be required to ensure data stored within Electronic Staff Records (ESR) is accurate, up to date and facilitates timely, accurate reporting of complex information and accurate processing of employee’s information.
- To be responsible for maintaining workstructures in ESR. To provide overall management of work structures and employee information within ESR including creating, modifying or deleting positions, teams, services as required, inputting data, maintaining data quality etc.

Data Reporting
- Build and maintain dashboards, reports, and tools for internal and external customers to support local performance monitoring.
- To provide assurance to the organisation on key workforce issues such as professional registration, pay progression etc.
- Ensuring that all national and local workforce monitoring requirements are met by monitoring reports received from the NMC, Unique ID reports and workforce data quality returns, ensuring concerns are addressed, validated and managed securely in line with data protection legislation and NHS Information Governance requirements.

Data Quality
- To be responsible for analysing the quality and content of data held within the ESR system.
- Ensuring that robust daily ESR self-service checking mechanisms are in place to ensure compliance with quality key performance indicators in relation to Manager Self Service, Administrator Self Service, Supervisor Self Service and Employee Self Service.
- Ensure corrective action is taken (by users where appropriate) where errors have occurred, in order to maintain the accuracy of data from the ESR; to provide advice to users to avoid repetition of errors.
