We are currently looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our Hoveringham team in the position of Yard Loader.
Reporting to the Senior Yard Team Leader, your role will be to safely operate a forklift truck to load / unload beams / blocks / hollow core/ flight / landings onto trailers and rigid vehicles for customer deliveries. You will also be required to plan loads to best utilise the trailer space and weight distribution and offloading incoming goods where required. Safety rules and guidelines must always be followed to avoid accident or injury in the workplace.
Your duties would include but not limited to the following;
- Loading beam /Blocks / flights and landing / hollow core - placing the correct product onto the trailer or rigid vehicle to meet customer requirement.
- Planning loads - using a picking list plan how to load the product ensuring weight is evenly distributed and the load can be safely transported.
- Offloading incoming goods - when deliveries arrive on site you may be asked to move product from vehicles to the correct place in the yard.
- Vehicle safety checks - before beginning the day ensuring your vehicle is fully functioning, fueled and safe to operate.
- Tidying the yard - ensuring beams are tidily stacked in the correct bays and any bearers or other debris are disposed of or tidied away.
About You;
- Experience in a similar role is essential.
- Good communication skills.
- Well organized in terms of maintaining a clean, tidy and safe work environment.
- Should be trained or prepared to be trained up to operate all manufacturing machinery & plant on site.
- Awareness of health and safety legislation.
- The ability to manage a varied workload.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- The initiative to work without supervision or as part of a team.
- Essential: B1 FLT Basic Numeracy and Literacy.
- Desirable: B2 FLT.
