Joining the Adult Social Care Assistive Technology team, you will be working with older and disabled adults who require care and support. You will promote independence, dignity, and choice for them to remain independent utilising bespoke care and commercial technology.

Technology can give people freedom and choice and help South Gloucestershire Council residents stay connected, healthy, and independent. Your role is to support the Council to enable them to use technology in their everyday lives.

**What will you be doing?**
- Regularly, you will work with disabled, older people and their carers in their own home, helping them to use a variety of technologies and software that can provide support for their health and social care needs.
- It will be your responsibility to install telecare, commercial and bespoke packages and help people learn to use technology. You will use equipment and tools appropriate to technology installation.
- You will attend meetings, give, and receive training and contribute to Assistive Technology service promotion, hosting and running demonstration technology sessions.
- You will keep an accurate record on our in-house database and spreadsheets, including managing procurement and the storage of equipment.
- You must be empathetic and have good communication and inter-personal skills.
- Ideally, you will have previous experience of working within a social care setting or working with vulnerable people.

**What we need from you**:

- It is essential for you to have a relevant qualification e.g., NVQ 3 or equivalent, or hold equivalent relevant experience in practical skills such as setting up digital equipment.
- You must have experience in technology and can carry out a range of practical skills such as lifting, moving or repositioning furniture and household objects and using tools to fit and install equipment.
- You will demonstrate knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and codes of practice as well as knowledge of health and safety practices when using tools and equipment in people’s homes.
- This role requires travel across South Gloucestershire, so you must either have a current driving licence and provide a car or have access to appropriate means of travel.- Please note that due to the nature of this role it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained for this post.**How a career at South Gloucestershire Council is different**:
