Receptionist/administrator

We have a fantastic opportunity for a friendly, professional individual with excellent customer service skills to join our caring and committed reception team.
The main duties of this role will include being the main point of contact for all patients and visitors into the surgery.
Operate the telephone systems dealing with all enquiries and ensuring the phone is answered professionally and promptly ensuring confidentiality is maintained at all times.
To make appointments and take requests for home visits ensuring sufficient information is recorded.
Process repeat prescriptions according to practice policy ensuring urgent prescriptions are dealt with immediately.
Respond efficiently and courteously to all queries and requests for assistance or information from patients and any other visitors.
Register new patient and temporary residents.
Maintain a clean and tidy reception area.
Copy medical records.
Opening and shutting procedures to be followed.
Post to be opended and distributed accordingly ensuring confidentiality is kept at all times.
**Person Specification**
**Experience - Essential criteria**
- Experience of working in an environment with direct contact with the public.
- Understanding of the need for professional confidentiality.
- Dealing with members of the public on the telephone.
- IT literate skills to include Microsoft word and excel.
- Keyboard skills.
- Good organisational ability.
- Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing.
- Good clerical skills with attention to detail.
**Desirable criteria**
- Previous medical receptionist experience.
- Working knowledge of GP clinical system EMIS Experience of primary care
**Qualifications Essential criteria**
- Good standard of education GCSE grades A-C or equivalent
**Desirable criteria**
- ECDL or other IT qualification Customer Service qualification
**Personal Attributes Essential criteria**
- Willingness to learn.
- Well presented and well mannered.
- Enthusiastic, honest and reliable.
- Patient, tolerant, tactful and discreet.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Flexible with working patterns and ability to cover other shifts.
