**Function/Department description**

In 2008 with an increasing number of customers seeking their whole kitchen solution from one trusted source, PWS soon expanded into the fabrication of high quality, bespoke worksurfaces, with the launch of our award-winning worksurfaces manufacturing facility at our HQ site. Combining state-of-the-art technology and expert craftsmanship, PWS Worksurfaces provides the most comprehensive and sophisticated collection of worksurface products, with a commitment to worldwide sourcing of the very best materials.

**Summary and Purpose**

To hand finish components in a manner that will ensure they meet the required quality and specification to delight our customers. This process should be carried out only on occasions where the desired finish cannot be achieved using a machine. The process should be carried out accurately (within defined company tolerances) and as efficiently as possible while ensuring the tools and work area are maintained to the highest possible standards as described with the relevant SOP(s). As hand-finishing components by hand is not always a full-time task, the postholder is expected to assist in the factory during the course of the day in a general role that will enable the production team to work effectively and efficiently.

Besides department staff, there will be regular working contact with all other company staff at all levels. There may also be occasional requirements for working contact with customers and suppliers. It is expected that good communication practices and good citizenship and the principles of Customer Delight will underpin the management of these relationships.

**Immediate priorities**:

- To gain an understanding of current hand finishing practices and material types involved.
- Familiarises themselves with all hand tools and polishing pads required to perform the desired processes.
- Gain knowledge of our manufacturing tolerances and specifications.
- Gain knowledge around our quality standards and adheres to them.
- Have a full understanding around H&S within the area and required PPE.
- Gain experience around profiles and various cut outs with or without polish.
- Confident in Excel spreadsheet completion for daily KPI capture.
- All non-conforming issues to be recorded by means of SMR procedure and reported to supervision.
- Be involved with the Internal Supplier/customer regarding any quality issues received or produced in the Hand finish department.
- All housekeeping duties are completed along with daily maintenance check sheets (PPM)

**Main Responsibilities**:

- To actively support the supervisory team and ensure jobs are completed on time daily, as per the production schedule whilst maintaining quality expectations and H&S protocol throughout.
- To ensure that all components are hand polished with correct and consistent profiles polished ends and chamfer’s as per production drawing and in the desired timeframe.
- The ability to under polish components by both machine or by hand.
- The ability to fabricate and carry out material repairs would be desirable however training would be provided.
- The ability to follow SOPs with relevant risk assessments to carry out daily tasks, any variation to be reported to supervision for review.
- All non-conforming product to manufacturing tolerance to be reported to supervision and captured by means of SMR.
- To ensure that equipment and plant are maintained to a level which guarantees maximum up-time and that the work area conforms to the company’s requirements for Health and Safety and general presentation.
- All production jobs to be documented by means of departmental KPI data capture around performance.
- To assist your team with controlling the supplies of consumables in order to prevent stock-outs and liaising with onsite suppliers where applicable.
