If so, we have a fantastic opportunity for an individual to join Waste Industry and Regulatory Services (WIRS) as a Grade 4 Regulatory Officer.

WIRS is committed to data excellence; we collate, evaluate, and use our technical expertise to interpret data, which informs compliance, regulation, enforcement, and legislation.

The team

WIRS is an inclusive and passionate department consisting of experienced and knowledgeable regulatory and technical staff. Working with colleagues across the organisation and a variety of external stakeholders to provide environmental guidance and regulation. Ensuring priorities are informed by evidence and insight.

Key work area includes Regulatory Waste Returns, Chemical Compliance, Pollution Inventory, Hazardous Waste and Waste Tracking.

Working nationally, our staff are based at Quadrant 2, Sheffield, although some staff work from other locations.

Experience/skills required

**Key skills and experience**:
experience in working with bespoke IT systems

excellent IT skills in using Microsoft Word Excel, Access, MS Teams and similar tools

ability to coordinate the collection, assessment, and reporting of data

can deliver one to one and group training

has attention to detail and can easily identify anomalies and decipher patterns within the data

can identify, investigate problems, and develop solutions

ability to embed new ways of working to help us work more efficiently and effectively

ability to plan, manage and prioritise a varied workload to deadlines

ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and those we regulate

be organised and able to work on your own initiative

work part of a team with a variety of people to build effective working relationships

be comfortable working in a virtual team environment

The job will be within WIRS, based with other Environment Agency national teams at Sheffield. Some attendance at the Sheffield office would be required as agreed with the Team Leader.
