Buyer

We are recruiting for an Ingredients Buyer to join the team here at Harrods. The focus of your role will be to source the highest quality ingredients for the lowest supply cost for our Restaurants and Kitchens.

You will come to the role armed with outstanding industry knowledge and existing supplier relationships, with excellent interpersonal skills that will allow you to form a strong alliance with our culinary and front of house teams.

About the role

We have 27 food outlets across our Knightsbridge store, each offering a unique experience for our customers. As an Ingredients Buyer, you will be accountable for devising the ingredients strategy for both our Restaurants & Kitchens. Working alongside the Retail Buyer’s, Product Developers and Chefs, you will develop sourcing arrangements and manage the supply chain to ensure top quality ingredients, for the lowest supply cost.

Taking direction from internal Stakeholders and our experienced Chefs, you will be in charge of procuring a range of ingredients: from specific, rare meats to commodity products, (for example butter, sugar and flour) all in the name of bringing wonderful food creations to life

As an Ingredients Buyer you will also:

- Be responsible for all supplier negotiations to source product at the lowest cost and highest quality
- Understand and influence the Restaurant development roadmap
- Contribute to the critical path for menu changes and openings accordingly
- Identify emerging trends and opportunities by using competitor market analysis and internal and CRM data
- Build and nurture key relationships both within Harrods and with external suppliers and partners.

Within this role, you will manage a direct report (Assistant Buyer), there will also be the opportunity for travel.

- Experience within ingredients and/or commodity buying
- A financially aware, analytical mind
- Strong PC literacy (Microsoft, Excel & SAP)
- Business acumen & industry knowledge
- Solution based approach
- Inspiring leadership skills, able to support & inspire your team
