We are seeking a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist or CBT therapist to join our dynamic team (HCPC registered). This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a unique branch of mental health at a time of exceptional change and growth.

The role will be part of the Addictions Recover Community, Hillingdon (ARCH) team, based in Uxbridge, but predominantly community-facing, working in sites across the borough.

The Addictions Directorate within CNWL Foundation Trust is a large, well-established provider offering a wide range of specialist NHS drug and alcohol treatment interventions to the diverse and multicultural populations in Central and North West London. Our drug and alcohol services include community services, A&E liaison services, Peripatetic nurses, Family Therapy, a National Problem Gambling Service and a Club Drug Clinic.

Our substance misuse services are dedicated to helping reduce the harm caused by substance misuse; helping people overcome their dependency and problematic use of substances. We are proud to help both service users and their families rebuild their lives and enable recovery. We are committed to working in partnership with other providers and service users in local systems of treatment and recovery.

We are a forward-facing trust who believes in the training and development of psychologist skills and can prioritise supporting prospective applicants to learn new skills in working with providing service users addictions support.

To provide specialist psychological assessments of clients referred to the team based on the appropriate use, interpretation, and integration of complex data from a variety of sources.

To formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of a client’s gaming problem and/or mental health problems, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the client’s problems, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy, across the full range of care settings.

To work with the ARCH Rough Sleepers team and other ARCH departments to the delivery of individual and group-based psychological treatment programmes (rooted in MI/CBT principles as well as other evidence-based approaches) in conjunction with other Psychologists in the team.

To be responsible for implementing a range of psychological interventions for individuals and groups, within and across teams employed individually and in synthesis, adjusting and refining psychological formulations drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses.

To undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual clients and to provide advice to other professions on psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk management.

To liaise and share risk management information with the MDT and other professionals involved in clients’ care

To provide specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to clients’ formulation, diagnosis and treatment plan.
