GBS (Global Business Services) is a one global team across 5 towers and 10 locations. Our core pillars are to establish world-class talents, reduce complexity across processes, reduce work via automation and system rationalisation and to enable data driven decision making. Tax Ops Belfast mainly provides support to Caterpillar NI Ltd for all VAT related matters. Support and guidance are available for all the towers eg. ITP, ITC and RTR. Additionally, Tax Ops Belfast is working along with Accenture Delivery Centre to support other UK facilities from direct taxes perspective. Due to the new transition Tax Ops in Belfast will also start supporting UK Mainland facilities for UK VAT reporting. Due to this change a new role will be available within the department.

**Job Responsibilities and Duties**:
A position is open within the department which will include preparation of VAT reporting for Perkins Engines Group. This role will focus on correct tax treatments, Vat reconciliation, actioning aged items within Perkins facility. The role will support facility using MFGPRO, Global Vat Reporting Tool, Salesforce, Coupa, xflow and Alteryx.

You will work within a team of 3, reporting into the Accounting Manager. This role will offer excellent experience and within a global organisation.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Support the Tax Ops Belfast strategy with specific focus on VAT activities, compliance and continuous improvement
- Support submission of all VAT statutory reporting for Perkins Engines Group with Global VAT Team while adhering to current rules and regulation for VAT
- Actively participate in the transition of the activities to Belfast and preparation of the documentation packages
- Support other GBS towers with guidance on VAT treatment and/or training when required
- Build strong collaborative working relationships with business partners, in particular with other towers: ITP, ITC, RTR as well as Accenture Delivery Centre
- Promote VAT compliance across all the parties involved
- Suggest and implement process improvements in their day-to-day activities, taking initiative to improve existing processes
- Support Senior Management with their ad-hoc requirements
- Seek opportunities to simplify, harmonise and standardise operational processes for taxes across GBS
- Use comprehensive knowledge of ERP systems with specific focus on VAT compliance queries and frequently interact and work outside of the workgroup to achieve common goals
- Support initiatives outside Belfast team to represent the group within GBS (documenting processes, making presentations etc)
- Support Tax Ops projects and continuous improvement initiatives

**Skills and Experience**:

- Experience and understanding of VAT for UK/NI businesses
- Experience in work with high volume of transactions where analytic skills are required
- Proficient in Excel
- Previous experience in either Tax department, Accounts Payable and/or Accounts Receivable for UK facilities tax treatments (processing, QA etc.)
- Degree preferred, but minimum of educated to A-level or equivalent
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of statutory reporting for UK registered businesses: VAT return and/or intrastat and its differences based on the geographic location (UK Mainland and Northern Ireland
