An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Postgraduate Medical Education department for an Education Co-ordinator. This is a full time role to work 37.5 hours per week; between the centre’s opening hours of 8am - 6pm Monday to Friday. The postholder will also be required to have a flexible approach to hours.

You will be an enthusiastic and conscientious team player and have the ability to quickly establish and maintain positive working relationships. You will be able to work under pressure, have excellent communication, planning, and organisational skills, as well as being an innovative thinker; always willing to put forward ideas knowing that you are part of a forward-thinking team. You must be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of confidentiality issues.

The successful applicant will have obtained 5 GCSEs grade C or above including English Language; NVQ level 3 in Administration or equivalent experience. You will be competent in the use of Microsoft office packages and have good minute taking skills. You will have at least two years recent secretarial experience with knowledge of medical terminology.

The role of the Postgraduate Medical Education Department Education Programme Coordinator is to organise and administer doctors in training curriculum related activities including teaching programmes, meetings, inductions, assessments, clinical exams, supervision arrangements and related documentation. This will require the development and provision of effective education programmes for postgraduate medical learners to meet the needs of their training programmes. The role will require regular contact and communication with both learners and supervisors. The role will offer a variety of experience with regard to duties and in addition to managerial responsibility for an education programme (e.g. foundation year one programme), will encompass various responsibilities for providing support to the PMED Lead and Directors of Medical Education and also other components required for the successful delivery of high quality Postgraduate Medical Education. In addition the postholder will be required to present a positive image and promote the NUH Education and Conference Centres as first rate facilities.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Organise and facilitate junior doctor curriculum related activities including teaching programmes, meetings, inductions, assessments, clinical exams and related documentation.

Plan, organise and publicise events and meetings as required

Attend Local Education Training Board (LETB) and Centre business related meetings within and outside the Trust to meet the needs of the Service.

Support Clinical Leads / Programme Directors / College Tutors with the organisation and co-ordination of arrangements for educational opportunities for all doctors in training including those in both HEE funded posts and those in trust funded posts

Act as a point of contact for educational programme enquiries, dealing and responding effectively to sensitive and complex queries, passing on relevant information to appropriate team members and clinical leads

Work autonomously to plan and coordinate educational activites taking into consideration the internal and external factors including

- Educated to A Level/NVQ 3 or equivalent qualification
- A good standard of general education

Knowledge

Essential criteria
- Intermediate IT skills, regular user of Microsoft Office packages, and experience of using online communication platforms such as MS Teams/Zoom & be IT literate & experience in processing, recording, storing & retrieving data using computerised & manual systems
- Experience of networking & communicating at different levels within a large organisation
- Proven secretarial & administrative experience including agendas, letters & layouts & minutes taking to intermediate level
