**Responsibilities***:
Applicants are invited for a Post-Doctoral Research Associate position in music psychology in Durham University’s Music Department. The position is associated with the project “Using music to investigate perceptual and cognitive constraints on imagination”, funded by the Leverhulme Trust. This project comprises a series of large-scale studies of imaginings evoked by music (e.g., memories, fictional narratives, multimodal mental imagery), and aims to provide new mechanistic understandings of how such imaginings are constrained by features of both the music and the individual listener. This will be achieved using behavioural experiments, computational analysis of music, and natural language processing methods applied to textual descriptions of music-evoked imaginings. The successful applicant will work directly with Dr Kelly Jakubowski and a PhD student employed on the project, in close collaboration with co-investigator Prof Elizabeth Margulis (Princeton University, USA), and will have the opportunity to spend time as a visiting researcher at Princeton.
- To contribute to design and implementation of behavioural and online experiments on music-evoked imaginings.
- To lead data analysis of projects using advanced quantitative methods (e.g. classification models, multilevel linear models, natural language processing).
- To understand and convey material of a specialist or highly technical nature to the research team through presentations.
- To prepare and deliver presentations on research outputs/activities to audiences which may include academic and non-academic audienc
