Yeovil, United Kingdom Kingfisher Full time

Overview:
We’re Kingfisher. You might know us as B&Q, Screwfix, Castorama, Brico Depot or Koçtaş. We’re made up of over 78,000 passionate people, call over 1,300 stores home and operate in 8 countries. That’s right, we’re big, but we have ambitions to become even bigger and even better. We want to become the leading home improvement company and grow the largest community of home improvers in the world. And that’s where you come in.

At Kingfisher our customers come from all walks of life, and so do we. We want to ensure that all colleagues, future colleagues, and applicants to Kingfisher are treated equally regardless of age, gender, marital or civil partnership status, colour, ethnic or national origin, culture, religious belief, philosophical belief, political opinion, disability, gender identity, gender expression or sexual orientation.

What's the job?:
We are going through an exciting period of change across our ecommerce platform and are seeking highly motivated and experienced Technical Leads to join our engineering function. As a Technical Lead, you will work closely with your cross functional team to design and implement new features and products and act as the driving force within the Engineering team to ensure these are delivered successfully.

Our aspiration is to grow an engineering function that is world class, pioneering in the retail technology space, making high quality software within a growth culture that is always looking for the next thing to improve or adapt to meet our customer needs. We are seeking to use technology to give the customers the best digital and in person shopping experiences out there.

To do this we are changing, moving away from monoliths, and moving towards MACH architectures (Micro Services, API, Cloud, Headless) to give us the ability to make change fast, using automation, DevOps, and CI/CD. We are utilising a range of exciting technologies across our stack, including, Java, Kotlin, React, JavaScript, React Native, to name just a few.

We appreciate that the technology landscape is continually moving and as a business we understand the importance for our people to keep their technical knowledge current and challenged. We therefore put a great emphasis on learning and development for our engineers and invest in personal development, providing time, space, and resources such as LinkedIn Learning and Udemy, to further their skills and experiences.

We have multiples roles available across our domains, including Payments, Web, Mobile and Back-end Services. If you're looking for an exciting opportunity and to make a real impact building better software, this is the job for you

What we need:

- Lead engineering team(s) to understand and develop technical products and solutions that create robust customer experiences.
- Provide technical leadership to team members through coaching and mentoring.
- Establish and maintain a best-in-class culture among the team through partnership, open dialogue, and transparent feedback.
- Participate in development activities to support the progress of the team, including hands-on coding, peer-reviews, and technical decisions.
- Work closely with Principal Engineering and Solution Architecture to create low-level designs that support both product and technology roadmaps.
- Ensure product backlog items are appropriately refined, estimated, and prioritised, including technical enhancements and technical debt.
- Work alongside other domain leaders to identify and bridge the gaps to enable predictable and sustainable delivery.
- Lead engineering team(s) to adopt and adhere to best-in-class engineering practices.

**What experience you’ll bring**:
***:

- Strong experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams and technical solutions.
- A pragmatic, product focused attitude to ensure what we build consistently delivers value to our customers in a sustainable way.
- Extensive experience working with multiple programming languages and frameworks.

- Strong relationship and stakeholder skills.
- Exceptional verbal and written communications skills with the ability to convey technical concepts and influence at all levels.
- Experience in agile/lean software engineering practices.
- Experience continually improving and evolving engineering and technology practices.

In return, we offer an inclusive environment, where what you can achieve is limited only by your imagination We encourage new ideas, actively support experimentation, and strive to build an environment where everyone can be their best self.

We’re adopting a hybrid approach with some office and some home working, on average 40-60% in the office. Your office location? This person will be UK based and aligned to one of our retail banners head offices in London, Southampton or Yeovil, wh
