**NIGHT SUPPORT WORKER**

**JOB TITLE**: NIGHT SUPPORT WORKER

**LOCATION**: SMS Care Ltd, 17a Gorse Road, Blackburn BB2 6LY

**RESPONSIBLE FOR**: Self, Service Users, Colleagues

**RESPONSIBLE TO**: Area Manager / Registered Manager

**SALARY**: £10.00 - £10.42 per hour

**HOURS**: Working a combination of shifts, from the hours of 20:00 to 08:00. The
Waking Night Support Worker will assess risk, manage incidents, and provide person-centred support to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all residents throughout the night. Waking Night Support Worker must remain awake for the duration of the shift.

**ROLE SUMMARY**:
As a Support Worker your role and responsibilities are to provide a quality service, in line with the SMS CARE LTD guidelines and policies and procedures. In simple terms, you would be required to provide a service by promoting independence through positive reassurance and communication strategies with the upmost adherence to dignity, respect to our service users, who expect a quality and most importantly a reliable service within the home.

As your role would be to deliver our services to service users within the home, therefore we put our trust in you to provide a confidential, reliable, dignified, person-centered service, which are needs-led to meet the specific individual needs of our service users.

Daily duties and tasks will include but not limited to the provisions of requested personal care needs, social care needs and enabling care and support services to all our service users within the home.

**Duties / Responsibilities**

Service and support tasks include:
1. To offer informal and practical support to residents to ensure that they feel safe and secure within the project and are treated with dignity and respect.

2. To use a non-judgmental, positive, empowering, and recovery focused approach in all client-related work.

3. To work alongside out-of-hours support and/or emergency services.

4. To provide responsive sensitive and proportionate support to residents in the event of incident or crisis.

5. To undertake the practical delivery of the project whilst on shift including: a) Working within SMS CARE LTD policies and procedures. b) Ensuring that residents are safe throughout the night. c) Managing behaviors which jeopardies the aims or safety of the project. d) Ensuring the building and all communal areas are clean, including communal areas and encouraging residents to take responsibility for keeping their personal space clean. e) Regularly monitoring all areas of the premises, ensuring security and safety procedures are adhered to.

6. To use internal database for record keeping and monitoring.

7. To use Microsoft office programs including MS Word, Outlook.

8. To undertake manual and computerised administration tasks such as filing, photocopying.

**General**:
9. Cleaning communal areas of the property including office space, and/or supporting residents to clean and maintain health and safety and hygiene standards.

10.Attendance and participation in team and other meetings as required by the manager. To contribute positively to teamwork, supporting colleagues and being prepared to receive support as necessary.

11.To act flexibly, within reasonable grounds, in order to ensure the necessary cover for a residential project.

12.Attendance and engagement in supervision, annual appraisal and in undertaking appropriate training.

13.To work in accordance with SMS CARE LTD policy and procedure and to carry out duties with due regard to these.

14.To undertake such duties appropriate to the grade and character of the work as may be reasonably required.

15.To carry out all duties within the spirit and requirements of the SMS CARE LTD

16.To remain awake throughout the duration of the shift, including during rest break/s.

**PARTNERSHIP WORKING**:
As a Support Worker, your role will be involved in collaborative working with other health &
Social Care professionals such as Doctors, Social Workers, District Nurses, Physio
Therapists etc. This is known as ‘partnership working’.

**JOB SPECIFICATION**:

- To deliver high quality of care to Service Users and their families
- To provide the highest quality of care to service users in the home and in accordance with their individual support plan, using a person-centred approach.
- The range of tasks that the Support Worker maybe required to undertake covers and not limited to personal care, domestic/practical tasks, and enabling, promoting independence.
- Personal care includes washing, dressing, bathing, showering, toileting and medication monitoring and/or assistance, administration.
