**Job description**:
Royal Naval Air Station (RNAS) Merryfield is situated in the village of Ilton near Ilminster in Somerset. RNAS Merryfield serves as a satellite to the larger RNAS Yeovilton; the site has been used on and off since the Second World War for various functions and today its main function is for helicopter training and exercise by the Royal Navy. It is also the principal site of the Royal Navy Model Aircraft Association and is sometimes used by the Scouts, cycling clubs and for various other activities. The site is a protected MOD site and has its own security workforce on site. It remains an operational aerodrome and a restricted area which requires careful site management.

The successful applicant will fulfil two main roles:
**Facilities management**:This involves several tasks that in total should take up 50% of the total work time and effort. These tasks are essential for maintaining safety at RNAS Merryfield, primarily in the tower complex to deliver a serviceable work environment to support safe aviation operations and include daily management of site vehicle and fuel card:

- RNAS Merryfield diary timetabling and activity management in conjunction with, and subordinate to, the RNAS Yeovilton planning/operations team. Escorting visits by contractors/visitors as applicable.
- Weekly rounds to ensure all buildings and services are in good order and initiate defect rectification where required including follow-up action to ensure resolution, with the Establishment Facilities Management (EFM) partner and RNAS Yeovilton Infra management team.

**Estates management**:This involves a number of tasks that in total should take up 50% of the total work time and effort. Management of the estate is essential to defence business; licensed users represent an income to the site and have secondary benefits to both the site and wider defence. The estate must also be kept in a condition suitable that it can accommodate flying operations.
- On-site liaison and focal point, in support of the RNAS Yeovilton Business Resource Manager (BRM), to ensure that all aerodrome activity complies with the agreed Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) policy of use. This includes special events that take place as approved by Yeovilton BRM.
