This is an exciting opportunity to work on the Assured study which as an important research project that aims to improve support for people with self-harm and/or suicidal ideation presenting in crisis to the emergency department. The post holder will be a senior member of staff working within the Psychiatry Liaison Team and Crisis Assessment Team; taking a leading role on the delivery of the Assured (Adapting and evaluating a brief psychological intervention in emergency departments) trial.

Assured is in an NIHR funded research project lead by City, University of London, that aims to improve support for people with self-harm and/or suicidal ideation presenting in crisis to the emergency department. The Assured intervention has been developed with national experts in the prevention of self-harm, people with lived experience, and is the biggest study of its kind to have taken part in liaison psychiatry teams. The Assured intervention involves rapid follow up contacts using a narrative interview; safety plan; solution focused approach and follow-up letters.

They will also be an active practitioner within the service acting as a role model to other members of staff. The role will encompass clinical management, research, evidence-based service development, audit and supervision of junior staff as well as deputizing for the Team Manager in their absence.

The post holder will be expected to be self-motivating and autonomous with the ability to demonstrate accurate formulations of mental state, risk and need for people over the age of 18 years taking into account medical and social factors and referring on to other disciplines in the team or other agencies as appropriate within the given timeframes for the service.

The post holder will work across the liaison teams at the Royal London and Homerton Hospitals. The liaison services are 24/7 but this role will mainly be Monday-Friday 9-5.
