This is an exciting opportunity to join our recovery-focused and growing Eating Disorder service, working primarily in the Eating Disorder Intensive Community Treatment unit (EDICT), as well as the wider community team. The post holder will be supported by the other OTs in the team and the Clinical Coordinator and will work closely with community and in-patient Mental Health Services as well as a broad range of third sector agencies.

This post will offer varied specific eating disorders training opportunities and we would very much support you to develop in the role.
- The Eating Disorders Intensive Community Treatment unit (EDICT) provides intensive specialist treatment for eating disorders five days per week, Monday-Friday from 9.30am-4.30pm and primarily uses a group therapy approach to treatment. Although based in Colchester it is a trust-wide resource.
- You will be an important member of a small team delivering excellent care and treatment within a day unit environment and within the community.
- You will be responsible for delivery care to patients based upon individual needs, under the guidance of senior staff.
- You will provide practical support to patients in order to assist them to maximise the benefits of their treatment programme.
- You will contribute to, and be part of the broader community team. The vision for the service is for the pathways to integrate and for staff to work across them all.

There is considerable current focus on and investment in eating disorders services, as supported by the Mental Health Investment Standard, providing the team with an exciting opportunity to transform the eating disorders service and this is part of a national vision, with many initiatives and much support within the East of England region. The vision for the service is for the pathways to integrate across in-patients and community and for staff to work across them all. In addition, we are closely aligned with the Specialist Eating Disorder Unit (SEDU) beds within the Provider Collaborative in region.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the care of patients in line with CPA policy and other relevant Trust policies.
- Check, heat and serve ready prepared meals for the patients and/or staff as well as preparing drinks and snacks.
- To assist in the supervision of meals on the day unit and eating with service-users in the dining room and when out in other community locations to model appropriate eating behaviour, providing emotional support and encouragement.
- Contribute to observation of patients and provide relevant and timely feedback.
- Contribute to risk assessment of the individual and of the potential hazards in the patient environment.
- Provide practical support to patients and carers.
- Assess and support patients in activities of daily living such as meal planning, eating, shopping and budget management.
- Support with housing and benefit claims, employment and paperwork.
- Undertake physical health care checks of patients and report the findings to senior staff.
- Under supervision of qualified staff plan and deliver group work and support implementation of treatment programmes.
- Undertake any additional responsibility such as first aider, COSHH link, infection control link etc where appropriate and after relevant training.
- Undertake and complete training relevant to the National Care Certificate competency framework.
- To assist in cleaning duties including dishwashing and keeping kitchen in a clean and tidy condition.
- Produce accurate and timely documentation/records on all clients in line with relevant codes and Trust policy when requested.
- Attend and contribute to team meetings
