Connect2Luton are excited to recruit for a Refugee Asylum Co-ordinator on behalf of Luton Borough Council within their Policy, Community and Engagement department

**Purpose of Role**

As a Refugee Asylum Co-ordinator, you will be responsible for coordinating the Social Justices Units' work on refugees and asylum seekers in Luton

To be successful in this role you must be able to lead on agreed key priorities and projects for the delivery of relevant nationally funded programmes with regard to community integration, advocacy and the provision of required support services.

**About the Role**
- Supervision and support of caseworker including overseeing & supporting casework
- Develop links and relationships with partners involved in supporting or providing services to Ukrainian refugees and also asylum seekers in the town.
- Development of drop in sessions for Ukrainian Host families and refugees
- Development of LBC webpages focused on support and signposting Refugees and Asylum Seekers
- Management of agreed budgets/spend
- Development of the council's commitments to becoming a City of Sanctuary, aligning this work with the council's 2040 ambitions for a town built on fairness and social justice.
- Development of agreed referral processes and paperwork to support refugees accessing additional support.
- Attendance and contribution at local and national refugee and asylum seeker related forums/groups/committees and meetings.
- Development of relationships to aid the smooth transition of refugees and asylum seekers coming into the town and also when moving outside of the borough.
- Support a range of relevant Luton Council departments to assess and review their policy in relation to refugees and asylum seekers, including the development of multi-agency training opportunities.

**About you**
- Monitor and understand the asylum seeker and refugee footprint and its impacts in Luton
- Provide recommendations to Head of Service to reduce any negative impacts on the local services and communities.
