We are looking for an outstanding individual to join Harris Academy Morden as a Pastoral Faculty Coordinator.

You will support staff and students promoting a safe environment with excellent levels of behaviour so everyone is entitled to learn, overcoming barriers to learning working with colleagues in the academy and using a wide range of techniques.

Harris Academy Morden is located favourably for public transport with good local access to bus, tram and train links to mainline rail and the underground network

**Main Areas of Responsibility**

The main areas of responsibility will be:

- To support the consistent implementation of the academy behaviour policy
- To be responsible for the calm and purposeful movement around the academy between lessons
- To follow through any issues to do with behaviour as required by the academy Leadership Team, for example, taking student statements and setting sanctions in line with the academy Behaviour policy
- To mentor students on PSPs, supporting successful achievement of targets and contributing to meetings in relation to student progress on PSP
- To operate within the Duty Principal on call rota
- To manage students who are showing socially unacceptable or challenging behaviour under the direction of guidelines in operation at the academy
- To maintain standards of behaviour for all faculties and command a presence through corridor patrols and lesson drop-ins
- To monitor and report attendance/punctuality/ behaviour statistics for designated tutor groups
- To meet weekly with the Attendance Officer and monitor attendance and punctuality for designated tutor groups to ensure Attendance targets are met
- To follow up on any truancy and attendance concerns
- To support academy colleagues to run the truancy bus
- To report attendance and punctuality concerns at Faculty Meetings
- To support tutors to improve standards of attendance/punctuality
- To meet with Parents/Carers for students that are failing to meet Academy expectations of behaviour/attendance/ punctuality/ uniform
- To support whole Academy Events
- To coordinate the timely completion of tutor reports and check for quality and consistency
- To meet with Assistant Principal responsible for SEND to identify early students potentially requiring support of EHCP
- To ensure all issues that relate to student safety such as allegations of bullying are investigated and passed on to academy colleagues in a timely manner
- To assist in monitoring the academic, social and emotional wellbeing of students
- To liaise with Parents/Carers and outside agencies and attend meetings
- To promote good home school links
- To promote positive values, attitudes and good student behaviour dealing with conflicts and incidents
- To establish productive working relationships with students using methods to encourage student engagement and participation
- To maintain daily contact with assigned students to support, assist and enable them to meet targets set and develop the attitudes and skills to meet targets with less support
- To work in partnership with colleagues to deliver effective interventions and support for students
- To encourage students to develop social and independence skills whilst providing support when it is needed
- To report student and academy issues in line with academy policies for health and safety child protection, behaviour management etc
- Attend parent consultation evenings, meetings and training sessions as required
- To be a source of advice for teachers about different strategies appropriate for students within the faculty

**Qualifications & Experience**
- Qualifications to A level or equivalent
- Basic knowledge of SEND and learning barriers
- Some knowledge of strategies in working with young people with challenging behaviours
- Knowledge of some of the social issues facing students from disadvantaged backgrounds
- Awareness of Health and Safety issues in the workplace
- Experience of working directly with young people in an education or training environment, supporting the learning of students
- Experience of establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with a range of stakeholders, at all levels
- Experience of managing and being responsible for own workload
