**You will work every Thursday and an alternating weekend day.** You will work between the hours of 8.30am and 5.00pm, with a half hour unpaid break each day. Sundays are worked 9.45am to 4.00pm and receive an enhanced wage.

**You will start at £9.50 an hour and on successful completion of probation (after 12 weeks) rise to £10.00 an hour.**

**FULL JOB DESCRIPTION **The Sales Assistant (based in the Plant Dept) is a team member whose duties / tasks include:
Operating with integrity and honesty at all times - upholding the company’s values Working with the Plant Manager and the plant team to ensure the smooth running of the Plant Department to include:
Delivering excellent customer service at all times following the company's customer service policy.

Dealing with customers in person and on the telephone

Helping to achieve departmental sales targets

Keeping plant wastage to a minimum, through maintaining excellent plant hygiene.

Weeding the garden centre manually.

Hand watering plants.

Receiving stock and putting it out for sale. Ensuring plants are displayed well at all times and are labelled correctly.

Completing stock takes using our handheld EPOS scanners.

Advising customers on the care of their plants, as well as showing them any linked products that would help support their plant's care.

Cleaning of the plant area to include basic maintenance of the area including the plant benches.

Handling and netting of Christmas Trees (in December).

Using pesticides and herbicides if trained and if needed, following the relevant H&S guidance.

Ensuring all work is carried out safely and that H&S guidance is followed. Ensuring H&S signage is displayed correctly (for example when using hoses).

Becoming a first aider (if training is provided)

Plus other duties as given by a duty manager.

**This role is physical. You will be on your feet all day and will be required to lift heavy objects from time to time e.g. large trees, compost, pots etc.**

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 15 per week

**Salary**: £9.50 per hour
