**Main Purpose of the Job**

The post holder is responsible for leading the day to day running of the farmyard, care and welfare of animals and supervising and training volunteers.

Deputising for Farmyard and livestock coordinator in their absence. This is a sessional position that includes weekend work.

**Main Responsibilities**
- Managing the day to day running of the Farmyard.
- Responsible for the care and welfare of the animals on the farm.
- Responsible for maintaining a safe and clean yard that complies with the farm’s and governmental Health and Safety standards at all times.
- To provide a high level of customer service to the general public.
- To support work experience or Duke of Edinburgh students.
- Supervise, support and train the volunteers.
- To coordinate the daily routine accounting for all staff and volunteers on site.
- To implement all Health and Safety procedures and report any Health and Safety concerns to the line manager.
- To facilitate animal handling sessions such as meet and greets and cuddle corner.
- To provide cover in the farm staff absence. i.e. sickness and holidays.
- To assist other sessional workers on events at the farm or on mobile farms away from the farm.
- To perform any other tasks reasonably requested by the Livestock Coordinator or Farmyard Manager.
- To maintain communication across all teams.
- To work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.
- Other duties as required.

**Person Specification**
- Minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Animal Care/agriculture
- Demonstrable practical experience of working with livestock.
- Experience of working with young people (desirable)
- Experience of Health and Safety, including risk assessments
- Experience of managing/motivating/working with volunteers
- Knowledge of safeguarding and equality and diversity.
- The ability to work on own initiative, using judgement and common sense.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to relate to people of all ages.
- The ability to work flexible hours including weekends
- The ability to meet the physical requirements of the role.

**Job Type**: Zero hours contract

**Salary**: £11.95-£12.05 per hour
