Residential Child Care Officer role overview: Being a smaller council, we can truly make a significant difference and positive impact on the children within our care community.

Our Homes are intended as a positive option for young people who are unable or not wanting to live within a family setting. Our disability homes primarily support young people aged between 11-18 years.

We believe that regardless of any previous traumatic experience, all young people have the potential for overcoming that trauma and to grow and develop to reach their potential.

Residential Child Care Officers work as part of the wider team within Children’s Services.

A small percentage of day shifts are also included in your rota pattern to ensure you can build strong positive relationships with the young people you care for.

You will work as part of a dedicated, caring team to ensure the home is kept to a good standard, safeguarding children’s welfare, attending multi agency meetings as a professional and be confident in recording information electronically. You will be corestaff, the heart of our homes, and we need strong, resilient team players.

We need people who have empathy, want to develop their skills and excel in their career. This can be a challenging role, our children and young people may have experienced adverse childhood experiences and need to be provided with nurture, care, and surroundedby people who listen to their voice.
