Dementia Voice Activity Supporter
**About The Role**:
If you are passionate about enabling people affected by dementia to share their experiences and be heard, then this could be just the role for you
Dementia Voice activities enable people affected by dementia to have a voice. They do this by using their experiences to influence the work both of Alzheimer's Society and the health and social care environment on matters to improve the quality of their lives.
You'll be offering appropriate practical support to individuals taking part in Dementia Voice activities and this may include accompanying a person affected by dementia, if required, to Dementia Voice activities (this may be by car, on foot or by public transport). You’ll support with administration tasks for activities and events for example, by making phone calls and will also engage with people affected by dementia to support the coordination of Dementia Voice events.
- We are looking for people to support our online national dementia voice group. The group currently meets every other Wednesday morning for people living with dementia and every other Friday morning for carers/former carers. There is no face to face meetings for this group.
The role would involve meeting and greeting people as they arrive online, supporting people to be involved in the conversation, taking notes and potentially leading a breakout room discussion.
On the weeks where the group is not running the role involves making telephone calls to support recruitment to the group. We are also very keen to enable people who do not use zoom/ do not wish to join the group online to still contribute to the weeks topic, so some phone calls would be putting the questions to people and taking the notes over the phone.
If you don't use zoom then we would still like to hear from you as there is also the opportunity to support us by making the recruitment and involvement phone calls at an appropriate time and not attend the group
Role 1 - online Wednesdays 10.30 - 12.30
Role 2 - online Fridays 10.30- 12.30.
Role 3 - over the telephone - 2 hrs weekly, flexible
**You’ll be great for the role if**:
- You are passionate about enabling people affected by dementia to share their experiences
- You have an understanding of dementia and its impact on people and their needs
- You can demonstrate empathy, compassion and patience
- You are organised and have good communication skills, especially listening
- You are over the age of 18
