**The Position**

This role reports to the Senior R&D Manager.

This is a defined role within the R&D department. Main activities include but are not limited to:

- Developing and maintaining accurate and up-to-date product specifications for food and beverage products, incorporating ingredients, nutritional information, allergens, preparation instructions, and shelf-life details.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Product Development, Quality Assurance, Packaging, Operations, Purchasing, Supply Chain, Sales and Marketing to gather necessary information for creating product specifications and to share relevant information.
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and customer-specific requirements, including online specifications systems of retailers, when developing product specifications.
- Reviewing and assessing supplier specifications for raw materials and ingredients to ensure alignment with company standards, regulatory guidelines, and retailer-specific requirements.
- Working with retailer-specific online specifications systems to accurately input and update product data according to their respective guidelines.
- Maintaining an awareness of food legislation, regulations, industry best practices, and retailer-specific requirements to stay updated on relevant changes and communicate their impact on product specifications.

**Qualifications / Skills Required**
- Degree qualified in Food Technology or related discipline.
- Proven experience as a Food Specifications Technologist or in a similar role within the food industry.
- Sound knowledge of food legislation, regulations, and industry standards in the UK.
- Familiarity with relevant food safety and quality management systems (e.g., HACCP, BRC, FSSC 22000).
- Experience working with retailer-specific online specifications systems, ensuring compliance with their requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple specifications concurrently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams, external suppliers, and retailers.
- Ability to interpret complex technical information and translate it into clear, concise specifications.
- Proficient computer skills, including experience with specification management systems, retailer-specific online systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Self-motivated and proactive mindset with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Full UK driving licence.
