This could be the role for you - we are looking for a dedicated individual to support with the daily running of the CIVAS and Parenteral Nutrition Unit based at St Thomas.

Working with a friendly team we are looking for a dynamic individual to manage our stock inventory and assistant in the maintenance of cleanroom areas following full training.

If this interests you, then we would like to hear from you. We currently have vacancies for pharmacy assistants issuing stock, dispensed items, generating worksheets, supporting daily cleans and ensuring manufactured doses are delivered to wards, clinics and theatres.

All pharmacy assistants work alongside pharmacy and manufacturing technicians and pharmacists and form an integral part of the pharmacy team.

A logical approach to tasks and an appreciation for working to established Standard Operating Procedures are very important as our patients rely on us to do everything exactly right.

Many of our pharmacy assistants progress their career to complete a BTEC and QCF level 3 within Guy's and St Thomas' pharmacy to become a qualified pharmacy technician or progress in the field of manufacturing and register on the scientific manufacturing technician programme.

1. To assist or undertake regular cleaning of the aseptic units. This involves the cleaning of ceilings, walls and floors, various pieces of equipment and general surface cleaning as part of the routine cleaning schedule.

1. To assist or undertake in the regular cleaning of the support areas. This involves the cleaning of store areas on a monthly basis and daily cleaning of work benches.

1. The wearing of specialised clothing including hoods, boots and full coverall. In addition the removal of all makeup and jewellery is required in these areas.

1. To transfer raw materials, consumables from the main pharmacy store areas to the aseptic units.

1. To assist in maintaining a supply of clean room garments and mops for use in the manufacturing areas. This includes the collection and unpacking of clean room garments and return of dirty laundry.

1. To label and place in the incubator exposed in process environmental monitoring plates, completing all records as required.

1. To label used sessional plates and take down to the micro room for incubation and completed associated documentation

1. To assist in the general cleaning and tidying of the support areas and removal of waste to the disposal area as waste is generated.

1. To receive deliveries into the departments. Check the delivery against a delivery note to ensure the items have been delivered correctly. Ensure the delivery is unpacked and placed into the correct storage area in a timely manner.

1. To be responsible for arranging the timely removal of PN deliveries and other cages from the corridor areas ensuring the fire escape routes are kept clear at all times.

1. To undertake daily, weekly and monthly raw material stock checks as required.

1. Perform regular top-ups of ingredients and consumables used in the aseptic units against the top up list.

1. Perform regular tops ups of the PN Stock bags, completing stock rotation and all booking out on JAC on a daily basis.
