Serious Youth Violence

**Fixed term part time ( 12.5hrs ) Post : Serious youth violence, Outreach worker (Grade 3) x 8 posts**

*Salary starting scale : £ 25,119- £ 31,364 pro rata to hours worked*

**Are you interested in identifying, preventing, reducing and responding to Serious Youth Violence in line with the Serious Violence Strategy?**

We are excited to offer part time sessional outreach posts within EMPOWERU, our Contextual Safeguarding Hub for a team focused on Serious Youth Violence. This post is a 24/7-day service on a rota basis. The service is targeted at children vulnerable to peer-on-peer violence providing support to children either directly affected by serious violence or vulnerable to serious violence.

**About you**

We are seeking an innovative, creative and passionate individual who has a keen interest in this specialist area, to coordinate and assist the management of a new delivery team embedded into EMPOWERU, here to prevent and disrupt gang and group related violence. You will provide strategic leadership whilst embedding best practice around contextual and transitional safeguarding principles and have a’ child first’ approach.

This is a citywide service that will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

You will have a keen interest in working with children and adolescents, and possess:

- A good understanding of the impact of serious youth violence.
- Excellent and effective communication skills.
- Be relational in your approach.
- Be empathetic and compassionate.
- Display authentic leadership.

You will have the ability to build and strengthen existing partner relationships, including working with communities and faith groups. In addition, you will understand locally what the trends and themes are, can identify and implement specialist training, and coordinate partnership work with the EMPOWERU Hub, in line with the Serious Violence Strategy and duty.

**The role**:

- Developing effective child-centred intervention through building trusting relationships.
- Have experience of delivering high-quality face-to-face work with individuals and/or groups of children and their families, where serious youth violence is a concern.
- Ability to identify safeguarding concerns and intelligence of what maybe /could occur within the community and report concerns in a timely manner (whilst seeking support and guidance from the Deputy Team Manager).
- Ability to assess risk levels accurately, to better plan timely responses.
- Ability to prepare and implement intervention plans, update and record outcomes.
- Experience of helping develop initiatives which improve the offer to enable children to exit gangs or youth violence.
- Ability to deliver good quality presentations and awareness sessions on serious youth violence and/or exploitation.
- Experience of organising coordinated responses when gang reprisal attacks are likely.
- Experience of coordinating place-based initiatives underpinned by good locality assessments.
