Funeral Operative

Our Funeral Operatives play a vital role in our service and are often the first members of the team to meet our families and are able to provide reassurance that we will take good care of their loved ones and make a difficult time memorable for all the right reasons. Being a Funeral Operative can be challenging and rewarding with no two days being quite the same.

We are hiring a Funeral Operative working with our team based at our premises in Alexandria.

**Responsibilities**
- Assisting at funerals as a chauffeur and pall bearer
- Collecting the deceased from a range of locations and scenarios in a professional and empathetic manner
- Delivering and collecting relevant documentation to and from various locations
- Maintaining the cleanliness of equipment and facilities, including vehicles
- Prepare coffins and engraving name plates
- Preparing the deceased in our care for viewings and the funeral
- Assisting the funeral coordinators to ensure the smooth running of the business

- Have a sensitive approach to serving customers with good attention to detail
- Have an ability to react calmly and compassionately in emotional circumstances
- Are able to communicate in a clear and considerate way
- Are well presented, courteous and of good character
- Are able to perform the physical aspects of the role (manual lifting)
- Are able to consent to DBS checks as required

**Schedule**
- Full Time: Monday-Friday 0900-1700
- Part Time: Casual as and when required + on call
- Are able to reliably commute within 15 minutes maximum of the Alexandria premises (required)
- Participate in an “on-call” rota to ensure our 24-hour transfer into our care service - you should reside within a maximum 15 minutes travelling time of Alexandria to meet this requirement

**Experience**
- Hold a full UK manual driving licence (required)
- No experience needed as full training will be given
