Student Services provides a comprehensive and confidential support service for students, which includes advising in money, international, disability and academic matters, as well as offering personal and emotional support through wellbeing, counselling and mental health services.

A member of staff is required to join the Student Services team providing support to students out of normal working hours. Your primary role will be to respond to a range of situations where students require immediate assistance, to triage their requirements and provide both appropriate support and ongoing referral to external services e.g. NHS, Ambulance Service, Police or other agencies. These may include physical health problems, mental health problems and issues which may require the attendance of the Police. You will also be the point of contact for any person who has concerns for the safety and wellbeing of a student. The post holder will provide specialist support as part of a larger team of University staff who work out with normal working hours. Alongside this you will be required to provide online and telephone support for students presenting with a variety of personal and emotional issues, complementing the work that our day staff undertake. You will also be available to provide support for any other situations that involve members of the University community, especially staff, and assist in developing University wide wellbeing strategies.

The working hours of the role are full time, 8pm-4am, 36.25 hours per week for 52 weeks per year.

You must have a degree or equivalent professional qualification in one of the caring professions and significant experience of working with the NHS. You will be able to manage acute situations and deal with stressful situations effectively.
