The Gazzard Day Unit (GDU) SACT (Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment) Scheduler is an integral member of the Gazzard Day unit and will work under the supervision of the Senior Charge Nurse. The post holder will coordinate all administrative aspects of GDU, covering both HIV and Cancer services, including scheduling and coordinating the provision of SACT, HIV care, capacity management, some clerical duties and data collection.
- To deal with all new SACT referrals from clinicians, ensuring the first SACT is scheduled within Cancer Waiting Time targets
- To liaise directly with the patient regarding their bookings for first SACT and subsequent treatments - providing information and reassurance.
- To schedule all SACT treatment on GDU in line with local guidelines and protocols.
- To manage, amend and maintain the electronic SACT diary and ChemoCare, in order to ensure treatment scheduling
- To closely liaise with the CNS and teams in arranging venous access, prior to commencing SACT

Appointments, scheduling and capacity management
**In addition to the key responsibilities listed above**:
- With support of the nursing staff to manage, amend and maintain the electronic SACT diary and ChemoCare, in order to ensure treatment scheduling is kept up to date and accurate.
- To plan SACT and unit capacity efficiently, having consideration for a range of factors such as nursing staff rota, pharmacy turnaround times and availability of blood results.
- Liaise with Medical teams and Pharmacy Technical Services, ensuring SACT is prescribed and appropriate documentation complete.
- Attend weekly prescribing and Clinical Nurse Meetings.
- To be competent at admitting patients on Cerner as daycase/regular day attender/inpatient.
- Schedule/book referrals from the HIV services, linked to GDU in a timely manner. Taking in to account the overall capacity of the unit.
- Liaise with GDU nursing staff and HIV doctors regarding any complex referrals.
- To ensure all patients leave GDU with an appointment for their relevant SACT or clinic follow up.
- To reschedule appointment for patients whose treatment has been cancelled or delayed
- To adhere to patient booking processes on Cerner.
