Salary £23,144 to £24,285 with progression to £26,396 per annum

The Role

This post will be part of a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, MRI specialists, Informatic Engineers and Data Managers based in the John Walton Muscular Dystrophy Research Center (JWMDRC) at the Newcastle University Translational and Clinical Research Institute. The JWMDRC is a world leading center providing care and delivering clinical and basic research in inherited neuromuscular diseases.

You will also support the coordination of other muscle MRI projects at the John Walton Muscular Dystrophy Research Centre including projects that look at the analysis of muscle MRIs from large cohorts of patients and the use of new muscle MRI sequences for the study of metabolic myopathies and muscular dystrophies.

This is a varied and exciting role with extensive opportunities for external collaborations with academics, clinicians, and researchers worldwide. You will have the opportunity to gain experience of international project working and clinical research

The post is available on a full time, fixed term basis for 12 months.

Key Accountabilities
- Co-ordinate data sharing and project reporting documentation from internal and external parties
- Help in the day by day of the study, supporting setting-up the sites collaborating wit the AFM study
- Support the travel and accommodation arrangements tor patients participating in muscle MRI studies and the processing of expense forms
- Coordinate the data sharing processes according to GCP and GDPR to support
- Maintain the project files according to GCP
- Coordinate the sharing of MRIs with Newcastle
- If needed, travel and visit collaborating sites to help in the uploading of MRIs to the Imaging portal Myo-Share
- Support the dissemination of study results to include registrations at conferences, abstract and journal submissions and poster printing. This will also include internal awareness raising of study impact
- Support the organisation of internal and external meetings (national and international), workshops, conference calls and patient days. This includes maintenance of contact lists, contacting delegates, preparing and circulating agendas and associated documentation, taking minutes and ensuring follow up actions are carried out
- If needed, organise appointments, travel and accommodation for patients participating in clinical trials
- If needed, organise travel and accommodation and registration for the members of the team attending local, national or international meetings
- As required, provide support for other JWMDRC events including international conferences and patient events
- Document project spending and create purchase requisitions for project-related costs
- Organise, maintain and continuously review office procedures to ensure support to the project team is maintained effectively. This will include ensuring an efficient and accessible filing system is in place meeting study audit requirements, and maintaining databases
- Order, ship and track office supplies, specialist equipment and consumables for internal and external use ensuring a smooth day to day working environment
- As required work with other members of the clinical trial team to support the set up and management of other MRI studies and JWMDRC activities including meeting planning and minutes for regular team meetings

The Person (Essential)

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Previous experience in a relevant role
- Advanced user of Microsoft Office
- Excellent administrative skills, including experience of setting up filing systems, preparing for meetings, managing diaries and the ability to develop and implement new systems and procedures
- Ability to handle project-related finances including travel booking, purchase requisitions
- Experience of international working
- Experience of working in a university/NHS environment
